Athena had a litter of pups in Texas who sadly didnt make it. An experience like this can break the spirit of a mom, but Athena has proven to be resilient and is so sweet, energetic and sometimes shy.

She came to us at 34 lbs, but now at a healthy 41.5 lbs she is the perfect size for anyone who doesn't want a larger GSD or doesn't have the space. She's also the perfect size to ride shotgun with you around town.

She is around 2 yrs old and likes to play with the other dogs and is kind to them. She's been introduced to cats with no issues, but hasn't lived with them yet.

She is house trained, and is learning more of her manners and to be crate trained. She has a healthy level of energy and we are learning more about her every day. She loves to get her exercise in so being a part of an active family could be ideal.

One of her favorite past times is quiet time with one of her humans and being massaged. She tends to just bow her head and leans into you for a back, neck, thigh and leg rub. Then when you rub her head, she stares into your eyes and says "thank you" for loving me. Of course, what massage isn't complete without a belly rub while she lays down and exposes her cute belly.

She came to us with whipworms, but was treated and is now negative. She will need one final booster treatment in Dec. She is heartworm positive, which is being treated with antibiotics , and will soon receive injections. Although one would never know because she has tons of energy. This could be because she LOVES her humans of all ages and knows that she is safe at last.

Athena was rescued from a high-kill shelter in Texas. She is anxiously awaiting my forever home now that she's in Virginia - being fostered in Sterling
