Hi, my name is Telarana – in Spanish, that means cobweb. I’m named for the beautiful scar on my snout - my former owners tied my snout with a shoelace so that I couldn’t eat or drink. I was rescued in Memphis, TN in 2011 - my family thinks I'm about 7 years old. But I’ve lived with a great family for the past 6 years and have moved past the trauma of my puppyhood. I can be shy at first but am sweet and loyal. I don’t love thunder or cannon-fire. I'm a great companion for hiking and lounging in the yard chewing sticks. I am the proud pup of a 4-year-old girl and I'm great with her and her friends. My soul sister, Dixie, and I play really well together and also comfort each other; ideally, we would go to our new home together. Unfortunately, my currently family thought they would be our forever home, but work/travel schedules and budget constraints have made things unsustainable. We would love a new family with a bit more space and time to spend with us!

She enjoys being a couch potato and doesn't need much in the way of exercise to keep her content. She isn't so good at paying attention to you long enough to learn that new trick or command, there are just too many things to spend much time on just one of them. It can take a long time for her to warm up and accept anything new. A kind, understanding and patient approach is the best way to introduce her to new people or new places. Many people may call her aloof, but she is just not the touchy-feely type of dog. She is happy knowing the people she loves are near. She doesn't need to do all that licking and begging for attention like some other dogs out there!
