Elijah-at-a-glance: 2 year old, male, neutered Pit Bull Terrier, 56 lbs., up-to-date on core vaccines, microchipped and heartworm negative. Elijah takes monthly flea/tick/heartworm prevention.

Elijah was at the PG County shelter for a month before getting his freedom ride with Lovepaws! While we don't know his full story before shelter life, it is evident he was a staff favorite who was often used to test the temperments of other dogs. He's done such a service for so many dogs in that month of shelter life, it's time for him to live the good life!

Elijah loves to be active throughout the day both through physical exercise and brain games like food puzzles and nosework. He'll need a family who can help him drain his energy with a couple of daily walks/runs, fetch sessions in a fenced in yard and activities that make him use his noggin like mini-training sessions and enrichment.

Elijah is the ultimate cuddler! Having a bad day? He's there to lean his body on your legs. Sitting down to scroll on your phone? No worries, he'll make sure your hand finds its way to his head soon enough. Need a hug? Yes, this affectionate guy gives hugs ever so gently. He's truly just ready to be someone's baby!

Elijah's dream day would begin with a long walk in the sun, followed by some playtime with his tennis ball and his humans. Now, go ahead and get that frozen peanut butter kong because he's ready for a snack and a snuggle...on your lap. Once the evening hits, he'd love a car ride, simple walk or learning some new skills while taking treats ever so softly from your hand. This would be followed-up by more snuggles! He'd also be likely to request a sizeable portion of your bed because he's a back-sleeping, splayed out kind of guy!
