','Abbey has been with KAR since the summer of 2013 when she showed up at a country home with a kitten in tow. She was barely more than a kitten herself and thin as a twig but she was a great momma for her little guy. She is still a petite girl and plans to stay that way – staying in shape with daily games of fetch (yes, this feline loves a good game of fetch to start the day)! Abbey is a special kitty because she is very sensitive and has not done well without having a permanent home. She can have anxiety and has been on medication for it and we hope that a special home that can give her the time and patience she deserves will come along. She can be very very sweet and friendly and we know that is her true character underneath what's she's going through. Abbey will not be the right fit for everyone for these reasons but don't let that stop you from considering her if you feel willing to give her time.

','Alaska and Ivory are two rabbits who came to us when the Toronto Humane Society closed down. Jessica, Founder of Kingston Animal Rescue, took them in and is now keeping them and will love them forever. They are hopefully going to be friends with her own two, Bunny and Bonny. They all live in their own bunny room and are very happy together grooming always.

','Emily, Amanda, Rocky, Remi and Fluffy or better know as Kingston Animal Rescue\'s “Fabulous Five” are a family of rabbits who were surrendered to us when their owner could no longer look after them.
They came to us from a home where they lived together in cramped conditions. They learned to be with one another and get along despite the lack of proper housing. When they first arrived in their foster home they remained huddled together in a corner for the first few days before they tentatively started to explore their newfound space. They are now much more adventurous and love to binky and play together or on their own.
Our Fabulous Five are an interesting mix of breeds and personalities but somehow this little group cohabitates extremely well and can often be found grooming one another and relaxing next to each other.
These wonderful bunnies are a bonded group who have been together since they were babies. They would love nothing more than to find a very special home where they could remain together and thrive together.
Amanda is a beautiful, unique looking bunny. She is an outgoing rabbit that loves to run and play in cardboard “houses”. Amanda gets along well with each member of this bunny group but can most often be found alongside Emily. Amanda loves to boss around and mother the others. She is the decision maker and often everyone wants to be with her. She waits patiently for someone to love her family.
Emily is a strikingly beautiful rabbit with a soft, flowing, lionhead mane. Like many albino rabbits Emily exhibits a side to side movement of the head called scanning. This behaviour is genetic and is not in any way harmful. Emily cohabitates well with the rest of her bunny family but she can most often be found snuggled with Amanda. They are the oldest. Emily loves to watch everything going on and loves to munch on hay more than veggies even. She is hard to resist!
Rocky is a social, easy-going rabbit. He enjoys the company of his foster mom and is always first at the scene for a real adventure when the door to their pen is opened. He enjoys pets but not for long as there is lots of exploring to be done! Rock is easily the \"Ladies Man\" of the bunch. He\'s very social and loves his greens. He is the first one to run up to you. Rocky loves being in such a big group.
Remi is an adorable Netherland dwarf chinchilla rabbit. Of the five he is the most shy and nervous. Remi loves to play and explore but retreats quickly to the safety of his “hidey-box” when feeling scared. Remi is often seen running around the edges of his pen. He loves to hide and is very independent. He can be shy sometimes but his curiousity gets the best of him.
Fluffy is a very special, gentle bunny who loves attention and melts the heart of everyone who meets him. He loves pets and enjoys snuggling. When Fluffy first arrived in our care he was malnourished, had a persistant respiratory infection, was severely matted and had several bald patches with broken skin. With veterinary care, weeks and weeks of medication and proper nutrition Fluffy is now feeling much better. His coat was shaved down and is now growing back healthy and soft. Fluffy is a brave bunny who has endured much in his short life. He is an extremely sweet-tempered, loving rabbit who trusts anyone who would like to give him a gentle head rub.Fluffy is the youngest of them all. Fluffy is the most special rabbit any of us have ever met. He is EXTREMELY sweet and absolutely adorable. He\'s been sick but always lively and optimistic.
To learn more about Fluffy please visit our “Broken Bunny Fund”
We are looking for a very special home for these bunnies as we really want to keep them together as that is the only way they know. Some are shy in the group so the perfect home would be patient with them but also want to spend lots of time interacting with them so they get used to people. Anyone who has met these rabbits have said there is nothing else like it. A group of bunnies this big and bonded so well is a pleasure to watch. They all interact with each other and something is always going on. They would do well in a large human family with lots of different people to look after and love them so they all get a chance at affection.

','She is quite shy and scared still but is very slowly coming along. In fact she is GREATLY improved since her first day here. She comes out of hiding at night quite a bit more and doesn’t quill up and huff anymore when I come by to watch her. She also settles when I have her on my lap a lot faster. She almost lets me pick her up without using a blanket (she’ll stand on my hands, but as soon as I lift her out of the cage she quills up). When she’s out for exercise (in her ball) she is scared at first but then quickly takes off exploring and doesn’t really stop until she has to poo. I’ve been trying to get her litter trained but haven’t had much luck yet, probably because she gets scared so easily. She is a loud eater and hasn’t shown much interest in climbing yet but seems to really like to dig and burrow. She has the most beautiful eyes when she looks up at you. She didn’t like her bath at first but then it turned out to be a really good bonding moment for us as she got comfortable with me hand grooming her. She really would do well with some patience and love because she likes people she doesn\'t trust very quickly.

','Ana is a very sweet bunny. She came to us after being abandoned outside a regional shelter. She was so large they thought (and so did we) that she might be pregnant. Ana was actually just a very overweight bunny – likely the victim of living in a small pet store cage, no out of cage exercise time and a poor diet. Since arriving in our care she has lost quite a bit of weight and still has some more to lose.
Ana is a very gentle bunny who thrives on human interaction. She likes nothing more than spending time cuddled up next to her foster mom for gentle pets. She’ll hunker down for pets for 20 minutes or more – very rare for a bunny. Ana is not scared of dogs and actually quite likes the company of her foster sister. She is litter trained, does not seem particularly interested in chewing and digging, and doesn’t mind being picked up. She just might be the perfect bunny.

She is quite shy as she spent her whole life fending for herself in the outdoors, but now that she is inside with her best friend Elle she has no interest in being in the cold again. ','Anya was born March 7 when her momma, who was living as a stray, forced her way inside a home, desperate to find a safe place to have her babies. Thankfully the babies were born healthy and quickly came into the rescue with their mother, Tessa. Anya is a thinker. She is quiet and likes to consider things before diving into the action. She is sweet and gentle. She loves to play, but also likes to hang back and be a spectator. Anya has an adorable purr and could be mistaken for a teddy bear with her fluffy fur.

Ateri is a athletic and agile opponent to her rough-and-tumble brother (adopted)! She disapproves of chaos or intrusive noise, and does her best to combat it by waging war against any wily toy intrusions. Her specialties are her feather-chasing skills and chair-climbing. ','Bean was born in the rescue and raised with his mom and siblings. He had a great start in life and was adopted with his brother by a lovely family. After a short time, a vet visit and x-rays it was discovered that this little guy has Megaesophagus, also known as ME or Mega-E, a condition where the muscles in the esophagus fail to push the food into the stomach.
Requiring specialized care, Bean came back into rescue. His foster home has trained him to eat standing on a stool, allowing gravity to help the food slide down his throat. Given a wet diet, frequently at first and now just three times a day, and burped like a baby after large meals, Bean is thriving.
Bean loves to cuddle and will flop at your feet rubbing and purring. Like any other young cat his age, he has lots of energy and loves to run and play. An affectionate guy, Bean makes it a pleasure to give him the extra attention he needs.
Bean is neutered and will come with all his vaccinations, dewormed, flea-treated, microchipped and with 6 weeks of complimentary pet insurance.

Safe in a foster home and spayed to help with those pesky hormones, Bella has slowly blossomed into a lovely and friendly bunny. ',' Meet Boots. This sweet boy arrived today in need of urgent care. He suffered an accident that resulted in a broken jaw, damage to his right eye, tail and a fractured pelvis. This sweet and calm boy is resting at the clinic and is being treated with pain medication and antibiotics. Tomorrow he will undergo surgery to repair his jaw and be thoroughly x-rayed. Boots has a long, difficult, recovery ahead of him. We are thankful for the opportunity to help him and hope he is feeling comfortable tonight. The last few months have been very challenging for us as we have taken in several special needs animals requiring surgery. Boots’ surgery and care will be expensive. If you can help with the costs, we just know sweet Boots will be grateful.

','Buttercup (patches on her face) and Lila (mostly white) are sweet young guinea pig sisters. They came to us after being removed by the OSPCA from a terrible situation (along with 11 bunnies and another guinea pig). Buttercup and Lila were born in spring 2014 and are still learning that humans are friends. Their foster home reports that they are quickly coming out of their shells and are becoming more social each day. Fostered in a home with a child involved in their care, we have no doubt that with time these adorable sisters will continue to warm up and will make a lovely addition to a family.
Lila came to us pregnant and gave birth to two sweet baby guinea pigs on July 10. Since Lila is busy being a mom, Lila and Buttercup will be ready for a forever home starting mid-August. We are happy to accept applications in the meantime.

Diesel is a chill guy who loves a good snack and a nap in his hammock. Diesel is a bit more adventurous than his pal Cedar, and he will come to say hello when you open his cage. Diesel prefers to stay in his cage, though his foster mom has been experimenting with leaving the door open to see if he will come visit with her. Diesel likes a good head scratch and will hang out at the side of his cage to see what's happening, especially if there are young visitors playing in the house.

When I see you come near my pen, I hop right on over for a pat on the head. When I am free range around the house, I will hop on the couch beside you and lay my head flat. I LOVE to have my ears stroked! If you stop, I will nudge you as a reminder to keep on going. The wounds on his face have since healed up extremely well and he is now enjoying the indoor life! ','Daisy is a gentle, petite girl (smaller than a standard beagle) who has not had an easy start in life. Daisy is assumed to be a discarded "hunting" dog as she was found in the fall of 2014 with no identification in an area where deer hunting is prevalent. Daisy was surrendered to a vet clinic and KAR was contacted for help.
True to her breed, Daisy is smart, curious and energetic. Unlike most beagles, Daisy seems to have very little prey drive, likely why she was cruelly "left behind" to fend for herself. She loves other friendly dogs and even gets along with cats (she lives in a foster home with both). Because of her rough start, Daisy is quite nervous and needs lots of patience in new situations. She loves to be outside and to explore, tracking down new scents her beagle nose tells her to follow. With a committed, kind and compassionate guardian, Daisy will blossom into a confident, friendly and loyal companion.

','Danny came into Rescue because of his condition. He was a stray and a poster rabbit for why no one should ever release pet rabbits into the \"wild\". He was very thin, his fur was completely matted, and he was extremely wet and cold. Pet rabbits will not survive on their own if they are released and it is very sad that people do this.
After recovery (and unfortunately he\'s missing big patches of fur now because we had to shave the mats out) he is a bundle of energy and is very demanding of people. If he catches sight of you, well you can bet you will have to play with him or he will be offended. He LOVES people and will have to go to a home that can give him plenty of interaction. One of the most social bunnies we have. He will run right over to you and stand up on his hind feet so he can get even closer for a pet or a treat.
Danny\'s fur will grow back very nicely and he will be a very handsome bun again. His litter habits are wonderful for a young one like himself and will get even better as he gets older, more comfortable in his home, and when he\'s old enough to be neutered. If you\'ve got the time to give him lots of social interaction he would be a very rewarding family member with all of his antics :)

',' Sweet Felicity came to us a few days ago after a kind person found her on the side of the road. When he first drove by he thought she was dead. He drove by again a little later and realized she had moved and was alive. Thankfully, he rescue d her and his family contacted us for help.
Felicity is only about 4-5 months old. Her right femur was broken and the nerves in her right front shoulder are damaged, likely the result of being hit by a car on her right side. On Wednesday she underwent surgery to repair her broken femur, which involved shaving down the bone – ligament and muscle will eventually develop and allow the bone to rest in the hip joint, allowing her leg to function normally. The surgery went well and she is now recovering. We will continue to keep an eye on her right front shoulder over the next 4-6 weeks. We hope that her nerves will heal, but if they do not there is a chance her right front leg may need to be amputated.
We’re so happy to be able to help Felicity, but she is the 11th cat we’ve taken in over the last week and her surgery is costly. Any donations toward her care would be greatly appreciated!

','Hope is an amazing bunny who knew she needed help and found the right people. She was abandoned outside in the middle of winter, a truly terrible fate for a pet bunny. She did not have the survival skills to survive but she found some wonderful people and hid under their deck. They contacted us and when we went to catch her she just sat quietly and let us pick her up and was quite calm during the whole thing.
Now that she's been in a good home for awhile we've gotten to know her a bit. She was very very shy at first but although it took awhile, she has warmed up considerably to people, especially if you have a little treat of banana! She now likes pets on her cheeks and nose and makes little noises. She cuddles with the cats in the foster home and if you sit on the floor with her she will come to cuddle with you too. He came to us after being rescued in Toronto where he was living on the streets in a busy urban area; living the hard life of a stray cat, but with the additional burden of having part of his back left leg missing. His injured back leg is the result of a major trauma that somehow miraculously healed. He gets around without any problems.

','Simon and Kali are two very in love bunnies. Their story is the stuff of fairytales. Sweet, but sad and anxious Kali arrived in our care after being left at the regional pet hospital with a large neck wound that was self-inflicted. Within 24 hours she had ripped her stitches and then did it again before she was forced to wear a cone collar for her own protection. She was also placed on anti-anxiety and pain medication to help her feel more comfortable.
Simon came from a regional shelter after being found as a stray. In our care he became Kali’s neighbour. After realizing that Kali’s future happiness was in question due to her barbering and the need to wear a cone collar, we opted to bond Simon and Kali in the hopes that companionship would bring Kali the peace and balance she so desperately seemed to need.
They love to do everything together – eat from the same bowl, munch hay in their litter box, keep an eye out from atop their hidey house and, of course, snuggle and groom each other. The bonus with this super cute pair is that they are two of the friendliest bunnies we’ve ever met. Both love to climb on laps and will sit for pets endlessly. They also have impeccable litter habits and are spayed/neutered.

When she first arrived in her foster home she had only known a life of abandonment and a life in a too small cage. She was at first extremely cautious of all the extra space she was given. Household noises scared her and she was very nervous of human contact.
Now Licorice is an active, curious bunny who loves to do the bunny 500 around the living room and binkies whenever she has exercise time outside of her pen. She remains somewhat nervous of attention but is steadily learning that humans can be kind and gentle. At one time Licorice rarely left her hidey house and now she is often found in the afternoon, fast asleep under the coffee table in the center of the living room.

','Lily is an adorable, teeny tiny bunny who weighs in at a whopping 2 lbs. Lily came to us as an owner surrender with a severe respiratory infection. Sadly, Lily had spent most of her life in a small cage on pine shavings, which likely contributed to the infection. Lily was treated with antibiotics, is now in perfect health and was recently spayed. Our vet estimates that she is between 2 and 4 years old Lily is an inquisitive girl who loves time out of her pen to explore. She is still getting used to being handled and is a little unsure about pets. She loves being around people and even other pets, however she is slowly getting used to attention. Given Lily's small size and cautious personality, we feel she would do best in a quiet home with adults only or older, respectful children. She is a little doll who is anxious to finally have a caring, forever home of her own.

','Linus came to KAR as part of the Sudbury rescue. He was removed from a neglectful situation by the OSCPA along with 200 other rabbits. Approximately one year old, Linus is a petite dwarf. Cute and spunky, he has a wonderful spirited personality. True to the dwarf breed, he loves to zip and zoom around his foster home, often with a little bit of attitude. Originally a very nervous little guy, Linus prefers to keep four paws on the ground and is not a cuddly bunny, though he is learning to interact with his foster family more and more. Linus would be happiest in a free range home with a family who can appreciate his independence.

She's very curious and if you're doing anything new she tries really hard to get in to check things out. She has great litter habits and does well being free range in the house. She goes nuts over cilantro. It takes her a little bit to meet people but once she's comfortable and her personality comes through its a very rewarding experience. Cats and dogs do not phaze her. ',' Personable and easygoing Maggie came into our care after someone abandoned her outside to fend for herself. She loves playing and binkies all over the place every chance she gets. She is content to be held, but isn't a huge snuggler yet (this might be because her cat pal beats her to any available laps).
Maggie is an outgoing bun, so a home where she could run free often would suit her best. Christopher will do anything for puffed rice and Marco Polo goes crazy for crackers. Christopher is a bit more outgoing and brave and he's also been "degloved" which means something happened to his tail and he has forever lost the tip of it, something that can commonly happen to degus who are stressed. This has since healed and he is not stressed in the slightest, unless you don't give him his puffed rice right away that is. Fortunately, she received excellent veterinary care and was re-united with her siblings within hours. Marlee’s front paws only have 2 toes but she hasn’t let that slow her down. She is a total cutie-paw-tootie who happily goes between snuggles with Franklin and wrestling with Macey. ','Mati is a sweet, soft as velvet, rex. She came to us from a shelter when she was at risk of being euthanized. She arrived in the shelter’s care after being abandoned with two male rabbits outside of a veterinary clinic.
Mati is a misunderstood bunny. She was pregnant, which naturally made her worried and protective of herself. At the shelter, her grunts – which are a common form of communication for pregnant does – were taken as aggression. The truth is that Mati is a very friendly, curious and outgoing bunny. She greets her foster mom every time her cage is visited and likes nothing better than a nice nose rub, which is often followed by a big bunny flop of relaxation.
Mati’s name means ‘mother’ in Ukranian, an appropriate name for this nurturing soul.
Mati did a wonderful job preparing for her babies, eating well and preparing a gorgeously comfortable nest. Unfortunately she gave birth to 6 stillborn babies. We are very sad that her babies did not make it but are grateful to have had the chance to provide Mati with a loving home for the birth. Mati is recovering and is doing well and is now available for adoption. Will you be the one to provide this sweetie the loving home she so deserves, but has never known?

',' A big, white, teddy-bear of a bunny with the most adorable markings on his ears, nose and tail, Max is a gentle and friendly sweetheart who hops his way into the hearts of everyone he meets.
Found abandoned in a conservation area with his two siblings, Max has quickly adjusted to the comforts of domestic life, living in an over-sized pen with lots of supervised playtime.
His excellent litter habits and lack of chewing behaviour have meant that Max has been able to explore his surroundings. He has learned to climb the stairs like a pro, and quite frequently will hop up on the couch to watch TV with his foster parents.
Max greets anyone who approaches him by standing on his hind legs and asking for a pet. His gentle nature makes his foster family believe he would do extremely well in a home with children and other pets.
While a docile soul, when he is feeling energized, Max will zoom and binky high enough to earn a perfect "10" score in the Bunny Olympics. He likes to show off and, for a bunny, he can be a real ham!

','After having 9 babies, Merida, who we affectionately refer to as Mama, enjoys spending her days laying around being the Queen that she is. She can usually be found stretched out in the sunlight, and if she can find a spot with a gentle breeze then she's happy for the rest of the day. But don't let her easy going attitude fool you, she has a diva side. She likes to rearrange everything in her pen until it's exactly how she prefers, and especially loves making a mess after you've just finished cleaning. Merida forgets how big her feet are sometimes, often knocking her food bowl over in her excitement, to the exasperation of her foster mom. But she makes it up to you with love and affection. ',' Minnie is a sweet bun who loves to be around people and at the centre of things. Minnie is an extremely affectionate gal who would be happy to sit in your lap and be stroked all day long. This warm girl loves to give her foster mom lots of nose-to-nose kisses.
Imaginative Minnie isn't big on store-bought toys, but prefers to play with toilet paper rolls and sticks. Her favourite game involves a large blanket that her foster family put down for her because she wasn't keen on the laminate flooring. She likes to run onto the blanket so it flies across the floor over and over again. This smart bun has responded well to training: she comes to her name, seems to understand the word "no", and knows which furniture she is allowed up on. She has also learned that climbing on her foster family when they eat apple or banana might result in a tiny piece for her. Because of her warm and confident personality, we think Minnie would be fine with small animals and gentle kids, though she has not had a lot of exposure to them.

','Noelle has an incredible story. We learned about her in late November 2013 just as the temperature was dipping and winter was setting in. Noelle was a stray that a family had been feeding for a few years. She had raised several litters of kittens over the years, including KAR kitties Sugar, Spice and Winken. We decided to try live trapping Noelle as she was very skittish but had shown the potential to be a happy domestic cat. She was trapped on a Thursday and immediately went to the vet for a check up where it was discovered that she was very pregnant – likely days from giving birth.
Within hours of arriving in her foster home the following day, Noelle went into labour and delivered four kittens. Sadly, the runt kitten did not make it, but Noelle raised three healthy kittens that have since found loving forever homes. It’s taken Noelle a long time to realize that life on the inside is good and that humans are not as scary as she once thought. Slowly she has begun to accept pets and seek out attention. Noelle will need a gentle and patient home willing to work with her, but she has huge potential. She is fostered in a home with older children, other cats, rabbits and a dog.

He came into the rescue with a large group of bunnies, the result of a family allowing their rabbits to breed out of control. However, that has all changed for this little, adorable, 'Rex'. Otis is perfectly litter trained and loves to exercise and play. He likes to go on adventures outside with his foster mom, safely on his halter and always under supervision. He likes nothing better than to scratch in the dirt, hop around and hunker down for a good grooming session under the sun.
Otis enjoys the company of his foster siblings: a beagle, foxhound and young cat named Abbey (who he is particularly fond of). He is inquisitive and enjoys playing with a baby teething ring. He loves to munch on salad greens and has taken a fancy to dandelion leaves.
While Otis is shy, time and patience reveals his sweet and loving personality. He enjoys nothing better than climbing onto his people and being stroked, patted (he has amazing velvet soft fur) and spoken to. "Oti" would make a wonderful addition to any family!

','Pixie is a reserved, but sweet cat. She is a young adult, likely just a few years old. When meeting new people or coming to a new place she likes to hide and go at her own pace. She will need a patient and quiet home to make her feel safe. Pixie enjoys human attention and especially likes to sit nearby and receive her pets that way. Sully is a young male cat (approximately 1 year old) rescued from the streets just as winter set in. Sully absolutely adores belly rubs – he would probably stay belly-up all day if he could. As he has settled in he has become a bit of a lap cat, often seeking out cuddles. A fan of the crinkle tube, Sully is a happy-go-lucky cat with lots of love to give (and take...in the form of a belly rub!). Pixie and Sully are bonded and love to play together, but Pixie is definitely the boss. Luckily, Sully is happy to be told what do. Both are spayed/neutered, fully vaccinated and microchipped. Their adoption is sponsored – a $50 discount will apply to their adoption fee.

','Polly is a cutie pie who came to us after someone found her abandoned in the country. We suspect that she was dumped because her eyes were a bit runny, but it was nothing that some antibiotics couldn’t take care of. She came to us when she was approximately five weeks old. She is a cuddle bug and a purr machine – a big powerful, full-body purr machine. She adores people and hasn’t met anyone she doesn’t like. Her outgoing personality means she’s likely to climb right up and cuddle into your chest on first meeting. Polly is fostered in a home with other cats and a bunny. She would do well with other animals or as an only pet. Not phased by anything and always ready to play, we think Polly would be a great match for a family with children, but would also be equally happy to have a single human to love.

','We would like to introduce you to a very special kitty. Popi came into the rescue after coming to his current foster home as as stray and after 5 years of being fed he was in serious trouble and let them catch him and bring him inside. He was in rough shape, but had a very sweet personality. After a check up at the vet it was determined that Popi needed extensive dental work. Turns out he needed ALL of his teeth removed so Popi now has a much healthier mouth and gets to eat soft food for the rest of his life.
Popi is also FIV+. FIV is a virus that leads to an immune deficiency, making it difficult for infected cats to fight infections and other illnesses. FIV+ cats can live fairly normal lives with proper care. Popi has received all his vaccinations and is neutered. Popi is a special guy who will need a super special family. In the meantime he is safe with us and his wonderful foster family.

Rinoa came to KAR in the spring along with five of her kittens. ','Romeo stands up to his name, affectionate, sweet, playful and charming. He is still a kitten and can be quite rambunctious at times. He loves to play 'fetch'. He would fit in a home with no dogs as he does hiss and get his back up when he sees my dogs. He may also fit better in a home with no other cats or at least a kitten. He seems to want to interact with mine, but when he does he puts the boots to them. It could just be an adjustment from being a stray and likely having to defend himself. Otherwise he is very loving and is a 'people person' type cat. Romeo does seem to behave well with dogs.

Sadie loves to decorate her bunny pen, and will move her hidey house and blankets around until she finds the perfect spot for them. She has become more adventurous recently outside of her bunny pen, and is always on the lookout for new things to smell and places to explore. Sadie lives in a house with 4 small dogs and 2 other foster bunnies. She is very comfortable when all 4 dogs are outside her pen to say "hello" and during one-on-one visits with them inside her pen. ','Master Splinter is a rather large, black and white adult male rat. He LOVES to be out of his cage, crawling around exploring on the floor or even better, all over you! One of his favourite games to play is \"tug of war\", especially if you let him win. He\'s very intelligent, uses his litter box and loves to be challenged with mazes. He\'s extremely quiet, you can only hear him when he\'s chewing on his kibble or playing with his jingle ball. He will become vocal if you try to take his food from him or if you try to contain him while he\'s not interested, but he does NOT bite. He enjoys fruits and vegetables of all sorts, usually only leaving behind the skins. A very special treat that he enjoys is peanut butter, but he can\'t have very much because he\'s gotta watch his figure. He loves to chew on sticks, but you have to watch him or he\'ll eat the splinters he creates.
Splinter is very gentle with all people and animals, especially when he can sense their fear. Splints, as we affectionately call him, loves to bond with his human while getting a ratty massage. Rubbing behind his ears will cause this little guy to melt in your hand, he\'ll even thank you by licking your fingers, his tongue feels very smooth. When he isn't busy playing with new toys or ripping up paper, he loves to munch on romaine lettuce. While he is not a huge fan of being picked up, he is more than happy to jump in your lap for a visit when you sit on the floor with him.
Steve was rescued from a breeder and is currently on antibiotics once a day to treat an upper respiratory infection - it is expected that this will be cleared and he will fully recover. Steve does well with young kids, but can be wary of other animals.

','Sully is a young male cat (approximately 1 year old) rescued from the streets just as winter set in. Pixie is a reserved, but sweet cat. She is a young adult, likely just a few years old. When meeting new people or coming to a new place she likes to hide and go at her own pace. She will need a patient and quiet home to make her feel safe. Pixie enjoys human attention and especially likes to sit nearby and receive her pets that way. Both are spayed/neutered, fully vaccinated and microchipped. Their adoption is sponsored – a $50 discount will apply to their adoption fee.

','This sister and brother pair are adorable, gentle, big bunnies. They both need a little time to warm up to their people but will eventually snuggle up for some pets and cuddles. Ollie generally succumbs to soft head rubs quickly wheres Summer, the leader of the pair, takes a little more time to think through a new situation. They enjoy respectful pets from the children in their foster home and would likely get along with other gentle pets if introduced slowly. This sweet pair is looking for a home together and will make a lucky family so happy.

','Sushi was a special needs bunny that had a drippy eye discharge and needed to be spayed. We put her in temporary foster care so she\'d be in a better environment and helped find her a home. Her adoptive home immediately had her spayed and upon spaying her they discovered a tumour on her uterus (extremely common in female rabbits) that was removed as well. Sushi now lives a very happy life with her family that she would not have had the chance to find out about. She gets lots of outside time and dedicated adoptive parents :)

Sweetie and Meadow came to us as part of a large group rescue in June 2011. They, along with 200+ other rabbits, were seized from an abusive situation by the OSPCA. These sweet sisters are small dwarves with lots of spunk. Sweetie, aptly named, is the more outgoing of the two. She can be picked up easily and enjoys attention and pets. Meadow is a bit shy, but also enjoys quiet attention and will sit for pets. They are both spayed and have great litter habits.

','Teddy is a super sweet 5-year-old cat. He came to KAR when he needed life-saving surgery to remove urinary crystals that resulted in a serious blockage. His family was not able to afford the surgery. We opted to have Teddy undergo an urethrostomy, a surgery that permanently altered Teddy’s anatomy to make future urinary blockages impossible (if crystals occur they will be simply flushed out with his urine). Teddy took many weeks to heal from the surgery, but he is now very well healed and loving life.
Teddy absolutely loves attention. He is a quiet and unassuming cat who is as happy to be by your side as he is on your lap. Teddy is fostered with a young child and would do equally well in a family with or without children. He is very gentle and kind when interacting with children. Teddy’s a special guy – he loves to shower under the bathtub faucet every night in his foster home. He dunks his entire head and body under the running water. Do you have a spot in your home and heart for this unique character?
Teddy is neutered and declawed (done prior to coming into our care).

Tegan (lighter bun) is a very soft and laid back bunny that enjoys attention and gentle head rubs. She adores being with people, including those she just met – she is social and sweet on first meeting. She enjoys playing, too. Tessa is a loving companion with excellent litter habits, who knows not to scratch the furniture or take part in other undesirable behaviours. She loves life on the inside as a house cat.

Senior cats, bonded and black, we knew they would be hard to adopt in a shelter environment. Both beautiful black cats with lovely shiny coats, Thelma is the more outgoing and bold one of the two. She is a roll around on the floor, loves belly rubs, can’t get enough of human attention kind of gal. Louis is quite social as well, but he tends to be more reserved and nervous in new situations, so we are still getting to know him. ',' Trinity and Silver were rescued together, and would like to stay with each other. Trinity can be timid when you first meet her, but as soon as she has gotten to know you, she is very friendly with both adults and kids. She likes nose and head rubs, and having her side tickled too. This courageous gal likes to explore new places, and is usually up for a shoulder top adventure!
Industrious Trinity also likes to keep busy - building and rebuilding her nest. Since she likes to be active, toys like toilet paper rolls, tissue boxes or blocks are good for her entertainment. She also loves to eat, and has good manners when you hand feed her. She holds her food daintily in her paws and munches happily away.
Silver is a social gal who would do great with kids and other (non-predatory) animals. This brown-eyed-girl watches everything you do with curiosity, always hoping it is time to hang out with her people.
Silver has a bit of a head tilt (the residual effect of an upper respiratory infection that was treated when she arrived in our care), which might be throwing her balance off a little bit, though that doesn't stop her from climbing all over the inside and outside of her cage. Careful handling also seems to help her stay upright. Like her pal Trinity, she likes to get out for a shoulder ride and loves getting tickles or pets, and repays your generosity with licks on your fingers.
