Name: Rush (formerly Blitzen)
Breed: Pitbull Mix
Age: 1.5 years
Size: Medium-Large (~45lbs)
Adoption Donation: $150
Other: Neutered male, vaccinations current.
Blitzen is a very sweet dog who loves attention. He also loves dog biscuits and will gladly sit for them! He gets along well with other dogs and enjoys trips out to the local dog park. Blitzen seems to be housebroken and is very good on a leash. He doesn't pull unless he see's another dog.
We are recommending a home without cats for Blitzen.
Foster Home Feedback
July 7th - Rush is doing very well! He is amazing on a leash and knows exactly what heel means and Ive had my 5 yr old cousin walk him around the house, rush plodding along behind him. He gets along with every dog we've run into, although he plays a little rough for smaller dogs. Its not aggressive, he just doesnt know his own size!! He's been in a house with up to 5-6 other dogs and he does great, he doesnt try and be the center of attention and he understands "Go lay down" if he is getting in your face too much. He has cut down tremendously on the puppy mouthing, but still does it every once in awhile. I usually make a loud screech and he looks at me and just starts licking me as if to say sorry! He gets very excited when people come over, but dont let that fool you, at home he is the laziest dog here!! He is the last one to get out of bed, and will sit on the couch with you all day if your not feeling good. He is a huge cuddle bug and likes to sleep on the bed, but he is kennel trained and rarely makes a peep once you lock him up. I usually just block him off in the laundry room when we leave the house, so has space to walk around, but cant get to anything not dog-proof! He knows the basic of "sit", "down", "go lay down", "kennel", and "put your head down". During feeding time he knows to sit, watch me, and wait, and is not greedy with his food at all. And yes, he still likes to bring people presents when they come home; shoes, leashes, towels, blankets, all I have to do it either say "drop it" or "Thank you" and he lets it go right away, silly dog.
Jaunary 21st -Rush here!
Just wanted to let you know I am having so much fun in my foster mom's care! She takes me to the dog park a lot and I get along with everyone! She tells me that I seem to find the dogs that don't want to play though, I cant help it I want everyone to be having as much fun as I am! My mom also tells me I have selective hearing when we are at the dog park, but I just want to run run run run run!!!! I sure do get tired afterwards though!
I know how to sit and lay down, but I like to lay down more than sit :) Mom makes my foster sister and I look at her before we get our food, mom says I picked up on it after the first time, she just doesnt know I love to eat!! I still like bringing everyone presents when they come home! Mom says i've been spoiled and spending too much time with her because when she leaves now I get sad and get into things I shouldn't. If she puts out bones I keep myself occupied, she told me if I chew up one more thing then I have to be kenneled, I'm trying to be very very good!
I like to sleep on the bed sometimes, but a lot of the time I'll sleep on the floor or walk into my kennel. I havent been locked in my kennel at night lately cause mom says I'm a good boy during the night, I even like to sleep in late if mom does too! Im great with other dogs and cats. I like kids, but I get so excited I tend to nibble at their hands, mom tells me that is not appropriate and with time and work she thinks I would be great with kids, I let them walk me around the house sometimes!
Come vist me sometime at Adoption Days, I love going and meeting new people and hopefully finding my forever home soon!
December 26th - We have renamed Blitzen to Rush, and he has taken to the new name very quickly! He is definitely still a puppy, I estimate his age to be way less than 1.5. He bounds around like a puppy and when you meet him you can definitely tell he has some growing left to do.
He has been a great puppy so far! There hasn't been any accidents inside the house and he is very good on a leash and doesn't pull unless he see's another dog. Rush only chews on his bones, but he likes to bring things to you; slippers, leash, shirt, but I have yet to see him chew on them, he just likes to bring you a present! He is kennel trained, he whines quietly for about 2 minutes then quiets down right away, but he does great sleeping outside of his kennel as well, we alternate nights between the kennel and bed!
Rush already knows sit and down, and is rather a lazy puppy and loves to lay down instead of sit. We are also working on "leave it", "come", and "stay" and he is picking each one up very quickly, but it is something that needs to be worked on still. He needs some work 'cause he tends to jump when he gets excited and likes to do the puppy mouthing thing, but a "No" or "Don't bite" quickly stops the behavior and he is getting better at it everytime.
He gets along with every dog so far, and has been submissive, he just needs to learn that not everyone wants to play 24/7. Considering Rush is a puppy that jumps, I would recommend a house with slightly older children, but he has been around my 5 yr old cousin and does fine. He has also been around my horse, and was very interested in being by her legs, he learned very quickly that's not the place to be, and doesn't bug her anymore.
His pictures don't do him any justice, Rush is a GORGEOUS dog with beautiful coloring and very well-behaved, he just wants to spend time with someone!
