*Artie was diagnosed as having diabetes.  His foster family is working hard to get this condition under control so Artie can live a long and happy life.  Artie will need a forever home committed to keeping him healthy and managing his condition. We have found a less expensive avenue for purchasing his insulin so the average monthly cost for the insulin is approx $35 + needles.        For more information on diabetes in dogs, please visit the link below:

Let's show Artie that people do care and want to help dogs like him find a Loving Home!!
Help show this wise guy that older pups can find loving homes too!!
I have Enjoyed taking care of Artie he's so laid back and not very Energetic ~~ he just want's to Enjoy the rest of his life with someone or even better a Family that loves him..  :)
Can you give Artie that TLC that he needs? He is a little extra work but in return he'll show you LOVE...
This Summer little Artie has been busy taking lot's of walks, floating on an air mattress in the pool and he did some swimming in a lake.... he didn't like that to well...

6/22/14:   Artie is a really SWEET dog that is going to be an Awesome Companion for that special person or family. I think Artie would do best with older kids.
He just wants someone who will spend time with him, and take care of him with his special needs: Artie is on a couple medications besides his insulin that he needs and special food he has to have. ( He does  go outside a little more often to pee.)
We walk a couple miles... when Artie has had enough he let's you know and wants to go back home to rest. I do not push him because of his health issues...he's a wonderful dog and I just love him.
I must warn you there will be tears, I have become attached to this sweet dog just because I have had him so long. If he finds his forever home and is loved and taken care of I will be Happy with that..:)
Artie is still waiting for his forever home, please consider making this handsome boy a part of your family.

2/4/14:   Howdy Everybody!  It's me Artie!
My foster mom wants to tell you some things about me....

Artie is still dreaming of his forever home. He is a well behaved dog.
You have to meet Artie; he is a wonderful dog, and you will fall in love with this sweet boy. ( I have.)
Artie has been with us for over a year now, and is doing Great. I am still wondering why no one has adopted this special dog. His Dream is to have a family of his own that will love him and take care of him. I give Artie a kiss every night on the top of his head  and tell him that his special family is out there they just have to find him.

Artie is a diabetic and needs shots, he takes his shots very well now. He didn't like them at first; took awhile to get use to getting his shots, and  you have to remember to give Artie his treat after his shot, he knows he gets a treat when he is done. He's very smart. Artie's insulin and syringes run about $38.00 a month.

Artie loves to cover himself up so he needs his blankets in his bed and in his kennel.
Sometimes he sleeps in my bed with me and my dogs, but lately he wants to sleep in his own bed in the dining room.
Remember Artie loves to go for car rides when he sees me putting on my shoes he's by the door waiting to go with me. I think he get's a little disappointed when he can't go along.
Artie likes to watch T.V. too just like in his picture.
Artie is on a Grain Free Diet dog food and w/d can food for diabetic dogs...he likes them both. (Watch out, he eats anything that falls on the floor)  But you  have to be careful what he eats because he's diabetic.
With the weather being so cold we haven't been walking much,  just a quick walk around the block... We can't wait for Spring!!

Give Artie a chance he'll be your Best Friend!!

4/28/13:  Artie has been with us for almost 8 months; he is such a sweet dog.  He is a little shy when he meets new people, but warms up quickly once he gets to know you.  Artie does well in a kennel and out of a kennel, he has his special blanket in our dining room that he knows is his place to rest.  He also likes to cover himself up under a blanket.

He lets us know when he has to do his duty by standing by the back door when he's ready to go outside.

We found out in January that he is a diabetic and he does need an insulin shot two times per day; every 12 hours for the rest of his life to keep him healthy.  It is not hard at all to give shots, I was nervous at first giving them but I learned something new.  I wanted to do this because I didn't want to let Artie down.   Just because he has this it doesn't change that he's a great dog!!  I would be happy to show you how to give the shots.  After the shots, I give him a treat and tell him he's a good boy!

Artie says:  My foster family has done a great job on handling this for me.  Please don't let this scare you away from adopting me.  I am still the same dog I was before I found out I was diabetic.  If you have any questions about me, just ask my foster mom.  Artie~~

Artie is full of energy and would love to go for a walk with you.  He also likes to go for car rides!

1/4/13: Artie is looking for his Forever home someone to love him, he has lots of love to give...
He is a friendly dog, he likes to go for walks, tries to play ball but not sure what to do with it, we are still working on that...
If you are watching t.v. he wants to sit on your lap or lay on the couch with you. He just wants to be with someone who will love him...
Artie gets along with other dogs he lives with-2 sweet girls who enjoy having him here....
He's always happy to see me when I get home from work...
This is just a little information on how Artie is getting along.
