Seeking a Furr-ever Home!

If you are interested in adopting an ARPO pet, please visit our website, for details about our fees and process, and to complete our Adoption Application.   ARPO limits adoptions to within 50 miles of Indianapolis.  We do not have a shelter; all pets are in volunteer foster homes.

Magnolia (“Maggie”) is a very sweet little girl. She was found wandering near a busy intersection just south of downtown Indy. She was so skinny and kept her distance but she did not run away. After a few minutes and several treats  she was willing to be picked up and put in the car. Even though she was shaking and scared from being picked up by a stranger she nuzzled her head
asking to be petted once she was in the car. Maggie needs love and has a lot of love ti give!

Maggie has the saddest eyes and when you look at them you wonder what experiences she may have had in her young life to make those beautiful eyes so sad. Some scars on her body provide a few clues. Life is getting better already for Maggie though and when she finds her forever family
all her sad days will be behind her for good!

Maggie has been in a foster home now for about two weeks and is doing wonderfully!  Maggie gets along with everyone, likes to play with the other dogs and very much enjoys human attention. She has not caused any problems and was a hit at a June parade, when she decided to stop walking and roll around in front of everyone! She appears to be potty trained, as she has not had any accidents and asks to go out everytime she needs to.  Maggie is a real people pleaser and likes to stay close to people.  Maggie also gets along great with her foster mom's cats and will not enter the house if the cat is in the doorway!

She learned to sit in about 20 minutes and is very food motivated so she has been quite trainable as long as she is calm when learning. At first she seemed unfamiliar with the sound of a bag of treats shaking but learned that noise very fast!

When she goes on outings Maggie gets very excited at first then she calms right down and rides very well in the car. She is also a good leash walker. She is a young girl that will need exercise and
attention, but she is also very well behaved for her young age and wants to please her human friends.

At the vet Maggie encountered several dogs and a cat and did not react to any of them. She was so happy whenever anyone would look her way and did not mind the vet at all even when he poked her with needles.

Maggie has already transformed from a fearful little girl to a tail wagging little bundle of joy who can’t wait to go places, but is just as excited to get back to a kennel place. She seems to be appreciating the most basic things like regular meals, friendly attention and a warm, safe, indoor place to sleep. Now all she really needs a family to love her and a place to call home.

Magnolia's adoption fee is $150 and includes spay, veterinary well visit, vaccinations and microchip.
