Greetings from Puerto Rico,
We hope that you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday with your families and fur children. In honor of Giving Tuesday today, November 28th, we wanted to share what our Save A Friend P.R. Team is thankful for.
We are so thankful for all of our donors and volunteers. We have built an amazing community because of all of you. Your generous donations and support throughout this year have helped us rescue and find forever homes for 130 animals and the work isn’t over yet!
Please consider SAFPR for a charitable donation this Giving Tuesday to help us continue our mission into 2024. Donations can be via Venmo, PayPal or by check (mail to: Save
A Friend P.R., PO BOX 1452, Luquillo, PR 00773).
Thank you to all of you who are reading this letter. There are so many animals living a better life because of you!
Happy Holidays,

"Very thankful for all the people who have adopted from us and those who continue to support us and have our backs when we need help. So thankful for the volunteers who work diligently to make sure our pets are taken care of properly and find their perfect homes. For the volunteers who manage our social media, those who help with ground transport, fostering, helping with airport runs, setting up a new rescue program, data input, photo shoots, and vet runs. Thankful that we have several veterinarians and groomers who spend countless hours with us every month evaluating new intakes and sick animals."

“I am thankful for Emily Taylor introducing me to SAFPR and bringing me into the amazing work that Marla and this organization does. I will forever be grateful for SAFPR rescuing and helping connect me with my two amazing dogs - Bruce and Daisy. In July 2020, I flew down to the shelter in Luquillo to meet Marla, officially adopt, and bring the pups back home. They are now a little over 3 years old and went from stray street puppies to living the most spoiled lives! They are my whole world and bring me so much joy- and it’s all thanks to SAFPR."

I am grateful for finding a group of people who are incredibly kind, passionate, and determined to save the lives of these innocent Puerto Rican pups. I adopted my dog, Kendrick, from Marla five years ago, and not only did I gain a new dog, but a new group of forever friends as
well!"

I am beyond grateful for being part of the SAFPR family! I call it a family because it is made up of amazing, kind-hearted, supportive humans who love animals. I began fostering Rocket from the abuse case last year and after a few months Rocket became a foster fail. I will forever be grateful for our amazing adopters, fosters, and volunteers because without you we would not be able to do what we do!

“I am thankful that Marla, Eli and the wonder dogs were on the same beach at the same time as the crew of SV Sand Dollar way back in 2007. From this random meeting, we gained new friends, as sailors tend to do. I am thankful to be living in Puerto Rico, for the opportunity to do volunteer work with SAFPR and for all the good work that SAFPR accomplishes for the strays in Puerto Rico.”

“I am so thankful to have unconditional love from Penne and Orca, our two rescue dogs. I love my lab mix, Penne’s wet dog kisses when I do my downward dog yoga pose and my little terrier mix, Orca laying next to me snoring when I watch TV at night."

“
This Thanksgiving I am grateful for all the blessings in my life, especially the support of my family and friends. I can’t forget the companionship of my four-legged kids which brings endless happiness into our home. That brings me to Save A Friend P.R. and the people whose dedication and compassion tirelessly contribute to making a positive difference in the lives of animals in need. From the board, volunteers, adopters and contributors, you all make this happen and it’s amazing! Thanks to all of you. Happy Thanksgiving."

“I'm grateful for the SAFPR community — everyone is so big hearted, compassionate and caring. I joined this amazing team in 2022 as a foster mom, a life-changing experience that taught me the true meaning of "who rescued who?" This year, I adopted my very own Save A Friend P.R. pup, Daisy! She brings immeasurable joy to my life, and I can't thank Marla enough for rescuing her!”
