Save A Friend P.R. 

Pet Update: In honor of the season; a "Happy Holly-days" story. This adoption is the culmination of years of rescue experience by SAFPR, a trusted friendship with Lynn Rey (SAFPR Board Member and Hickory Creek Kennels owner), online information sharing, many hours of volunteer time to arrange care and transport from Puerto Rico, financial support from donors such as yourselves and love, lots of love. 

History: Holly was rescued by SAFPR in December 2021. She was found visiting a SAFPR feeding station near Luquillo, Puerto Rico; apparently abandoned nearby by her previous owners.  She was scared and hid in the woods, but with patience Marla and Eli were able to gain her trust and finally rescue her. She was adopted in January 2022. Holly is now called ZuZu.  And what a lucky dog she is to now have a loving family to care for her.  According to her adopter: “Zu; she just completes us and we weren’t even looking but we found her and she completes us”. 

Current: “She’s a bundle of love”. She loves playing with her fur siblings; running around in the backyard talking to the deer and chasing the squirrels who do high wire acts on the power wires overhead. For a little girl she knows how to run with the Big Dogs. ZuZu was the furry addition we didn’t know we needed until I saw her beautiful  face and she stole my heart!!!!
