The Story of Arthur:
We are excited to share Arthur's incredible journey with you, not only because of his remarkable story but also to shed light on the plight of animals like him and the collective effort it takes to get them the love and family they deserve.
Arthur's journey began on the streets of Puerto Rico, where he was found by a compassionate member of an organization called Paradise Rescue. From there he was taken to Luquillo Safe Haven, a shelter where he spent one and a half long years waiting for a home. Unfortunately, in Puerto Rico, dogs like Arthur, especially the big bully mixes, face significant challenges finding homes. Due to transportation costs and breed restrictions with airlines, shelters overflowing and many dogs roaming the streets, the odds of adoption are slim.
But Arthur's luck changed when he made his way to the Pittsburgh area. Thanks to our organization and a collaborative effort with Paradise Rescue as part of a group shipment, Arthur and several other dogs embarked on their freedom flight to the US. Some found immediate homes, while others like Arthur went into foster care or were placed with rescue partners like Hearts of Glass in Pittsburgh.
Arthur’s story highlights the importance of rescue partnerships and the tireless dedication of individuals and organizations working together to give animals a second chance. Despite facing adversity, Arthur’s spirit remained unbroken, and his journey serves as a reminder that every animal deserves a loving home.
Arthur was a favorite at Hearts of Glass Rescue in Pittsburgh but somehow still kept getting overlooked for almost one and a half years. Again, Save A Friend P.R. stepped in; bound and determined to make a plan to help Arthur. After careful consideration we decided to raise funds for Arthur to be sent to Parkway Pet lodge with trainer Dan. There Arthur underwent two weeks of intensive training, during that time we discovered that he was not just a good boy, he was an exceptional one. His willingness to learn and his loving nature showed through, captivating everyone he met.
After training, Arthur had the opportunity to live in a foster home, show off his skills and learn what it’s like to have his very own hooman. Thanks goes to foster dad Andy for doing a great job with Arthur! Fast forward three weeks and Arthur has officially been adopted by an awesome couple.
Earlier this week, we were all crying happy tears when we got the news of his adoption!
See, it really does take a village. Anytime someone says thanks for all you do I can't take credit; it is all of us as a collective group. Each volunteer from these rescues does something amazing and somehow it all comes together.
Rescue organizations all over are facing many challenges currently. So, if you have ever wanted to volunteer, now's your time. Sometimes we just need transport, sometimes it's calling references and of course we can always use foster homes. If you have a skill or interest and want to donate some time. Let us know.
There is an Arthur out there needing your help.
