Please welcome Petey to Worthy Dog Rescue.

Petey was a family dog when he was a puppy, but now that he’s grown and his family has a third new baby, they no longer wanted him inside the home. They started keeping him in a 10 x 10 pen all day long in the extreme heat of SC summer. Thankfully, someone reached out to Worthy Dog to help this sweet boy, and he will be going to a foster home soon. He’s a very sweet and social pup who has grown up with kids, and loves other dogs. NO cats.

He's crate trained and house trained. We don't know about his leash skills yet, but will know more once he settles into his new foster home.  Updates to follow. 

8/15/18 - Petey arrived on trasnport and was calm and social meeting all the new people and other dogs. He's doing well with the smaller scruffy terrier in his foster home, and has great doggy manners. He's a social pup who greets new people well, he's also a young, very active dog who needs his daily exercise and playtime. His foster dad is arranging neighborhood play dates for Petey, and he would do best with another young dog to romp around with in his new home. 

FOSTER UPDATE - 10/5/19

Petey’s life has changed dramatically over the past few months, and he's fully settled into his Potomac, MD foster home. Petey is a very sweet and affectionate dog, active and young with a moderate energy level. His foster dad, Gary, walks him about 2 miles a day, and mixes in some backyard playtime and neighborhood doggy playdates for socialization. Petey is great with other dogs and would love to have a pup buddy in his home.

This handsome boy is crate trained, house trained, and has already earned some free roam privileges in the home. He has OK leash walking skills, but will pull when he gets excited. Squirrels are his particular passion, both on the walk and on Squirrel TV that plays daily from the window overlooking the backyard.  

Gary says Petey is one of the sweetest dogs he’s ever fostered. He will make a great family dog, and is best with kids 8+ and older. He can be a food thief and a jumper, so he might knock down smaller kids during play. He’s very mellow when getting affection, and loves to give kisses and snuggle.
