This gorgeous pup was found running as a stray by one of our foster moms in a very rural part of SC. He came into rescue with a double ear infection, skin infection, and was heartworm positive, so we are pretty certain he lived as an outdoor dog. He’s been in foster care the past few months, going through heartworm treatment and healing, and looks great now. His coat is thick and shiny, he has healthy teeth, and is a good weight too. He’s a very sweet, gentle, and submissive dog by nature.

 
Scout is being fostered with multiple dogs and is both crate and house trained. He had some mild separation anxiety when he first settled into his foster home, jumping at the windows and batting at the blinds or clearing the counters when his foster mom left him alone. This is a normal pattern for dogs with separation anxiety, or he could just be adjusting to life indoors. His foster mom started using a 42-inch wire crate when she leaves, and that has worked very well. She leaves on some music and he just lays down in the crate and relaxes. The crate has become his safe place when left alone, and she makes sure he's crated around the other dogs, which helps.
 
Scout is great with other dogs, and really needs another dog in the home for companionship. He learns quickly, does well on a routine, and has never had any accidents inside the home. He's not a big fan of being outside unless you are with him - he’d rather be cuddled up with you on the couch. He’s very much a Velcro dog who stays right by your side, he's quiet in the home, has a low to moderate energy level, and loves to join you on walks or local errands. He walks great on leash, greets new people with ease, and rides well in the car.
