Meet Pistachio....an absolute Gem of a Kitty!

“Pistachio” may not be a super hero like ‘Black Panther’ but he sure is a brave, smart, active and handsome little dudeâ¤ï¸

He is the last of the nutty family and it's crazy that he hasn’t been adopted because he is an AMAZING, sweet, friendly boy!. At 9-10 months of age, 9 pounds, healthy and friendly with ALL, he really is a catch!

Well, he is often ‘hangry’ so his meals best be on schedule or the kitties around him will feel his hungry  mood! He loves his meals like any healthy, growing boy.
He seeks both human & kitty friends' attention, which means he will be happier in a home with a cat friend. He is mindful of the senior cats and his good friends (who are also adoptable) are Bobby & Patrick. He has had excellent litter box manners and is not very vocal..... again, unless he is ‘hangry’ then Watch out!!

Pistachio is currently being fostered along with his good friend, Bobby, and they are the best of friends. They are both big fans of catnip, crinkle chutes, crunchy balls, and toy mice. On a typical day you can find them lounging In the cat tree by the window.

If you are interested in adopting Pistachio and giving him the forever home of his dreams, please submit an application online @ARWOB.org

    Original Postings:

Meet Hazelnut and her babies: Cashew, Pecan, and Pistachio!!
Let us tell you a little about this beautiful Nutty family:

Mama cat, Hazelnut, is a BEAUTIFUL short hair grey tabby who was rescued from the Devore shelter along with her litter of 3 kittens (she had 4 babies, but, sadly, one kitten didn't make it and passed away before we were able to pull the family from the shelter). They were red listed and to be euthanized in a couple of days for lack of space. Their foster had learned about their plea for help from a post on social media and she drove to exit the family to foster herself as long as approved which we did. She drove up from San Diego to Devore (2hr drive one way) to pick them up and we ended up exiting 20 kitties total who were also in dire need of help!

We realized all 20 kitties had horrible upper respiratory infections and, hence, they were all quarantined and treated. After a couple of weeks of medications, they are now AMAZING strong, healthy and SUCH LOVELY friendly and sweet family!!

Hazelnut herself if likely a teenager or very young adult at 1yr and she is VERY sweet, social and such a great cat!! She shares her foster room with her babies.

    FOSTER UPDATE OCTOBER:

Hazelnut, Pistachio and Pecan are happy, lovable kits. Both Pistachio and Pecan are really playful and affectionate! Pecan (the more slender one) is slightly more cautious and Pistachio would be the alpha of the two, but they both are SO SWEET and enjoy sitting in your lap. Pistachio likes to sit on his foster mom's feet too! They both love their mom, Hazelnut. Pecan likes to sleep with her in the cat tree. What great kits they all are!

Momma Hazelnut loves cuddling while sitting on laps. She is such a favorite with all of our volunteers. She is just the sweetest kitty and if you are looking for a companion who will love sitting next to you or on your lap for bonding time, this girl is for you! Hazelnut herself is a very young adult at 1yr and she is VERY sweet, social and such a great cat!!.  She is a youngster at heart and loves playing with all of the toys and enjoys chasing after the wand toys as well. One of her favorite places is on a cat tree observing all that the youngsters are up to around her!

    Summary of adoption process:
Submit an application online @ ARWOB.org, contact us via email within 3 days to check on the status of your application IF you have not heard from one of our volunteers first.
Once a phone interview is scheduled (typically 10-15min chat) we can finish processing the adoption or foster application and hopefully move forward to set up a meet and greet in 92117 area

Typically, adopted or foster kitties go home the same day as the meeting.
If the adoption application is not approved you will receive an email with notification.
Adoptions can take 2-7 days from the time we receive application to the day kitty goes home.
It's really dependent on applicants' ability to provide the rescue group with the items needed to finalize an adoption. For example - if you rent, we recommend you have already received written approval from your landlord stating you may have a cat or multiple as that would be a determining factor on how FAST an adoption occurs.

We DO NOT place Holds on rescues- IF you are not ready to adopt within the week you submit the application we recommend waiting to submit application until you are ready, as that rescue may no longer be available when you are ready.

WE DO NOT DO SAME DAY ADOPTIONS - IF you are looking for a NOW/TODAY adoption, don't waste your time submitting an application online and we recommend you visit your local city shelter to find a new family member.
