    Meet Chica!

Hi, my name is Chica, and I like long walks in the woods followed by snuggles and kisses. I enjoy a good game of fetch where sometimes I fetch, sometimes you fetch! My favorite way to end the day is to fall asleep in your arms.

My favorite thing in the whole world is my people and plenty of snuggles! If I could, I would accept pets 24/7/365! I will be happy with one person dedicated to spending plenty of time with me, or be absolutely thrilled to be part of a bigger family where I can spread my constant happiness and joy among as many people as possible. I am loyal, sweet, play well with toys, have no desire to run away, and have an endless amount of love to share.

I could be a competitive eater on ESPN or something, seriously. I eat so fast, you might wonder if you forgot to feed me. I have learned how to eat near my foster siblings and know my bowl is mine, and their bowls belong to them. I still benefit from a watchful eye ensuring I don't try to creep over and get a little taste. If I am given a high value treat, I may growl and guard it but have come a long way in food security with my foster family.

I have plenty of energy, so I'd love to find a family that likes to go on walks, hikes, and play with me. I am at my best behavior when I walk between one and three miles a day, even if it is broken up into multiple, shorter walks. If you're interested in going on longer trips, I promise you won't wear me out! I like other dogs and people, but a slow introduction is appreciated. When I'm on leash, I can feel a little intimidated by strangers, but have no trouble meeting new people in a fenced yard or home. All of the dogs I have met with my foster family have become my friends, and I love playing with them.

Please do not feed me table scraps or human food. I have shown signs of food allergy to possibly chicken and grains, and get a red, itchy tummy and ears if I eat the wrong thing. I am also working on my manners, and will remain a food seeker if my people start slipping me goodies under the table. I've come a long way, now that I'm learning it isn't up to me to find my next meal. Thank you for helping me learn what food security is and picking out a salmon, lamb, or turkey based food without chicken products in it. My foster moms say they really aren't that hard to find.

I find cats fun to chase, but also know they need their space. I have made big improvements in my respect for kitties in the time I have spent with my foster family.

Be prepared for my smile to melt the heart of everyone except orthodontists. I can't wait to show you just how happy I am!

Chica is vaccinated, spayed and chipped. Her adoption fee is $395.

We cover the medical to prepare the pet for adoption and the adopt donations go directly to cover those costs and range from $295-$495.  Thank you for stepping up to save a life!
