A Little Bit About Me

 

Meet Alyx, a long-legged, handsome fellow who is looking for a calm, cat and dog-free home. We think a home with knowledgeable and cat savvy adults would be the happiest match for Alyx. Although he is a big strapping guy, he is fearful of dogs and will not tolerate the presence of other cats. Alyx will probably be the one who initiates petting by coming to you once he feels comfortable with you.

 

His white face and pink nose are a risk for skin issues from sun exposure, so keeping him indoors will be best for his health and safety. A catio with sun shade would be a great option for him.

 

Give Alyx a small room of his own when you first bring him home. He will need time to settle into his life with you and his new surroundings and smells. In addition to his food/water bowls, litter box and a scratching post to stretch those long limbs, Alyx will enjoy a tall cat tree or shelf near a window where he can safely view any activity outdoors and relax in available sun puddles. Visit Alyx often as you get to know each other, offering him a fun teaser wand or other interactive toy to engage him in play. Your patience and gentle petting will be rewarded by rumbly purrs and body rubs. Once Alyx comes to you as you enter his room, allow him to explore the rest of his territory, one room at a time, for short periods of time. Always leave the way open for him to return to his safe haven in the bathroom.
