This adorable little lady is Zume (“Zoomie,” aka Peanut). She’s currently being fostered with SIRTx in Austin. Zume is around 4 years old, spayed, heartworm-negative, microchipped, and up to date on all vaccinations. She’s in the final stages of recovering from knee surgery to correct a luxating patella, and is expected to make a full recovery.
Zume has been with our family since October, and has been an absolute joy to foster. She’s playful, affectionate, cuddly, and attentive. She gets along wonderfully with our three other dogs, and loves to prance around with them while stirring up shenanigans. She’s met two cats since she’s been with us, and did not display any prey drive or aggression at all. She loves to go on walks, and has mastered the art of the “begging eyes” to get one of her very favorite treats, baby carrots!
Zume came to us through another rescue, Forgotten Friends, who picked her up from the Bell County shelter. We don’t know her story, but she was in sad shape when brought her in. Her coat was all but gone, and her skin was badly dried and scabbed over. But through daily baths with medicated shampoo, a diet of good food, and lots of TLC, she made a quick recovery. But even though she started in bad shape, her big heart and loving personality was obvious right from the beginning. She settled in right away and stole our hearts. She’s just a doll!
