Hi! I’m Ash. Want to lie in bed and read a book all day? Perfect! Me too! Like to explore the greenbelt? Awesome, I’m there! Want to check out a baseball game or go for long drives or go camping or play in the snow or ride around in golf carts or stay in and watch TV. I’ve experienced all that while with my foster family and loved every minute! I promise I’ll be right by your side through it all.

Ash is a 1-year-old, 10-pound Chihuahua/Terrier mix. He will steal your heart with his sweet personality. Ash is pretty laid back and might pretend he is too cool to connect, but give this love bug some time on your lap and he’ll be your best friend. He came to U.C. Davis to get his broken leg fixed following a run-in with a car (the car won). Now Ash is all healed and ready for any adventure. He is looking for a home that will let him snuggle any time you are sitting still.

Ash is completely housebroken, walks well on leash, doesn’t chew on anything (except a rawhide-he loves those) and is crate trained. He gets along well with kids of any age, his foster’s two resident cats and their 80-pound dog. He’s not a big barker unless he sees another dog walking out the window or wants to let you know that he is ready to get out of his crate upon your return. He does like to be selfish sometimes during lap time and meal times, letting his foster’s resident dog know he doesn’t like him to invade his personal space, but gets along great any other time after a proper introduction and some time to get used to new friends. He also likes to show off his circus tricks and stand on his hind legs a lot, so younger kids might be at his level and find an unwanted paw in their face, followed by a lick to the nose.

He would do best in a family that is home a lot or willing to take him with them anywhere they go. At only 10-pounds, he is easy to pick up and take with you just about anywhere! If you are looking for a best friend, Ash is your man! He is soft, cuddly and cute and would love to find a family of his own. If you think Ash would be a great companion in your home, please fill out an online application at https://form.jotform.com/52017002013129/. Thank you.
