Duke is a beautiful male brown marble tabby born around March 2008. He has a very short and silly-looking tail, he was born a manx kitty. Duke loves being near his people, but is afraid of new people until he gets to know them. Duke takes little time to befriend humans, typically anyone who shows him kindness becomes his friend in a matter of minutes. If he gets lonely, he will meow mournfully and then have a light and happy conversation once his person provides Duke with some pets and companionship. Duke had a loving human dad for 10 years. Due to sad circumstances his human was about to be homeless. Given Duke had never lived outside, his human thought it not in Duke's best interest to become homeless as well. So Duke came back into his SPCA foster home and is now ready for a loving forever home where he can relax by a window wherever his people are. Duke loves to sleep with his people and is very thoughtful not to wake anyone. He has been introduced to other cats and kittens. With a slow introduction, he does fine with other cats and kittens and we understand from his previous human that he also adjusted to cat-friendly gentle dogs. But he does need his space and time to adjust to other pets. Although Duke loves to be petted and will climb onto a lap, he is not a fan of being picked up or carried about. Duke would make a wonderful companion and deserves to spend his golden years comfortably and safely with someone who appreciates his quirky relaxed elder-statesman nature.

If you are interested in adopting, please follow the instructions below to expedite your application:
    1. Fill out an online application available through our website (www.yolospca.org) or through this link: Online cat application form
    2. Please specify which animal you are requesting on the application by noting the "NAME" of the animal and the Internal ID.
    3. We will email or call you if we need more information; since we get many applications and are volunteers, we may not contact you immediately.  You may email yolospcafoster@gmail.com if you have additional questions.

All of our felines have been altered prior to adoption. Kittens have been given their first shots of FVRCP, adults are up-to-date on vaccinations, and all cats have are Feline Leukemia tested (negative) and micro chipped. The fee to adopt is $90 for kittens or $60 for adults over 1 year (the fee helps cover these costs and the cost of the microchip registration).

The Yolo County SPCA is a private, not-for-profit, foster home-based animal rescue organization and does not have a shelter. All of our animals awaiting adoption are in foster homes. For more information about this animal, please email yolospcafoster@gmail.com. For more general questions, please see our website at www.yolospca.org.

We are still accepting applications on this animal; we do remove the pets from our site once they are adopted.
