Meet Annetta. Annetta is an 11-pound female Chihuahua-Terrier mix. We think she is 3-4 years old. Annetta loves laps, toys, going for walks, riding in the car, hanging out in the yard with you, snuggling under the blankets, and food! Annetta is usually very quiet and calm, but she also has a playful side. She loves to be chased, she loves to play tug, and she can entertain herself for long periods with her toys, especially her favorite toy - a stuffed frog!

Annetta is gentle, affectionate and sweet once she warms up - good with both men and women she knows.  She is fearful of strangers, but she warms up fast, especially if you have treats.

Once she trusts you, Annetta is extremely loving and loyal. She gets really excited when you come home and she will turn circles to show you how happy she is.  Annetta does some guarding of the lap or bed she is sitting on, so it is probably best that she not be in a home with children.

Annetta is great with other dogs she meets at home. She loves the huge dog in her foster home, and the puppies that have come to her foster house to visit. On walks she seems afraid of other dogs, not barking, but getting snippy and growly if they get too close to her. It’s possible Annetta might make friends with a cat at home, but on walks she wants to chase any cat she sees. She will also chase squirrels in the backyard, but not birds.

Annetta has so many wonderful qualities. She is reliably housebroken-no accidents even when her foster people are away from home. She is really easy to walk. She is not a door dasher, she wants to stick close to her people. She is crate trained and she will go to her crate on her own if the door is left open. Annetta loves to ride in the car and does really well.  She can also be left at home and has never been destructive. She is not afraid of loud noises such as the vacuum cleaner, lawn mower or leaf blower. She doesn’t seem to know any commands, but she is very food-motivated and smart so she should be easy to train. Annetta sleeps through the night either in her crate (if you wish) or in the bed with you, she's flexible.

A good Samaritan brought Annetta to the shelter after seeing her get hit by a car. The wonderful doctors at UC Davis Veterinary Hospital repaired her leg. Now that Annetta has fully recovered in her foster home, she is ready for a forever home. In her forever home, Annetta would love to be someone's special companion, having lots of time to cuddle in her person’s lap, giving little kisses, or spending time with them outside in the yard. If you think Annetta would be a great companion in your home, please fill out an online application at https://form.jotform.com/52017002013129/. Thank you.
