He is a great dog, super playful, a quick learner and overall a lot of fun. We wanted to write you about him, and a bit about what we think would be good for him in the long run when SIRTx is seeking a family for him.

 

1. He is definitely still a puppy, and we think he really needs someone who has raised a puppy before or is very aware of their needs. He likes to chew - shoes, carpet, his dog bed, his blankets, walls, etc. (all the good stuff, ha!) so definitely needs people who understand that puppies can be destructive. We would hate for his trial not to work out because he is just doing typical puppy stuff :) But he loves chews and toys (bully sticks and yak milk chews are his fave so far) and he tires easily with playing and walking so he just needs stimulation, like any dog. 

 

2. He is great with kids! We have a 1 year old and Dan has been absolutely fantastic with him. He has knocked him over a time or two out of excitement, but he is really gentle, tolerant, etc. We think a family with kids who could play with him would be awesome. Not necessary, of course.. Just our thoughts. 

 

3. He has done really well with other dogs. We haven't seen any aggressive behavior and he loves to play.

 

4. This guy LOVES to be outside. He will hang in the yard forever and asks to go out all day long, so he might do best with someone with a yard or someone who is outdoorsy. 

 

5. He definitely still needs training with walking and commands. He is great at "sit" and is fully potty trained and is doing better with walking every day, but still needs more, of course. He loves to jump up on people, and is getting better at learning not to as time goes on. 

 

6. He isn't a *huge* fan of his kennel. He is fine in it at night, especially because we are in the room, but he doesn't go into it as a safe place on his own (and we honestly haven't really pushed it, since he probably lived in a kennel his entire life at the mill). He does not like to be left in a kennel when he is alone.

 

7. He is super friendly to people. He always wants to be hanging around us, which is really sweet. 

 

8. He is a total goofball! Chases his tail, makes funny faces and noises, shiba 500s like crazy and all that good stuff. He is hilarious and a super funny and fun little guy. 

 

9. Because he is a puppy, he is super active so probably needs people who will play with him, run around, go on hikes, etc.  He loves to move!
