Meet Athena! This sweetheart was confiscated as part of a cruelty investigation and arrived at the Center very scared. To better introduce her with housebunny life, Athena was placed in a foster home where she could more easily adjust from the environment she came from. Athena's foster parents thought it would take some time to show her she was safe and loved in her foster home. To their surprise, Athena was coming out of her shell by the second day!

Athena learned many things in her foster home. She was confused about eating hay because she had likely never had it before, but now she loves it! She also has a new found love for toys and is frequently seen tossing her ball around. Athena is so grateful for treats and now begs for pets. When her foster family sat in her exercise pen with her, she laid down to ask for pets.

Athena is an Angora and will require frequent brushing/an occasional hair cut. She did get an initial shave to rid her of the mats she developed before she was rescued (see second pic). She is good with her litter box. Her back molars were trimmed and these will need to be rechecked periodically. We are hoping a proper diet with hay will fix the molar problem, but it's possible she will need teeth trims a few times of year for the rest of her life.
