UPDATE - Meet Jangles! Jangles is a very special older girl who's been on our website for quite some time. We realized that she needed an updated bio since she's a very different dog than she was when we first posted her over a year ago. It's almost like she's had a makeover, because she looks and acts younger than she did last year! She's still kind of a special needs girl, but her overall health is excellent now after a year at a safe and comfortable foster home. She's had high quality food, lots of love, and some other doggie roommates to hang out with, and with that has blossomed! She's had some medical problems in the past, and still doesn't see very well out of at least one eye, but other than that she's doing just great! Jangles is very calm, sweet-natured and incredibly affectionate, and loves to be petted. She also loves to go for long walks.

Last year Jangles had some digestive problems, but those are no longer an issue since she eats a consistent diet, and also eats out of a puzzle bowl so she isn't able to gobble her food.  She has a congenital heart murmur, but that doesn't seem to slow her down at all. When she isn't in the house snoozing or getting attention from her foster mom, Jangles likes to be out in a back yard where she can roam freely around the perimeter. Her behavior often appears a bit klutzy, but that's likely because she doesn't see very well, since she's never been diagnosed with any neurological problems. When she's out for a walk, she's very good on the leash, and sees well enough to anticipate curbs and jump up or down at the right time. She's very comfortable sleeping in her crate at night, and will let you know she's ready to go outside to tinkle in the morning by giving her unique hound yodel. She's housetrained and when indoors will let you know she needs to go outside by pacing around. When she's ready to come back in she'll give you another yodel.

Jangles would probably do best at a home with another calm, older dog she could be friends with, and who could help her navigate around and keep her company when she's outside. She's fine with other dogs when she gets to know them, but we're not too sure about cats or children since there aren't any at her foster home. Since she doesn't see very well, it will take her some time to get used to a new family, home and yard. She may bump into things and seem a bit disoriented for a while, but once she's used to her new situation we think she'll do just fine.

Does this special lady sound like a good match for your family? She would love to find a forever home who could appreciate her unique and loving spirit! If you think Jangles would be a great companion in your home, please fill out an online application at https://form.jotform.com/52017002013129/ ). Thank you.

For the fastest response, please submit an Application so we can help you with a good dog match. Thanks for considering giving a rescue dog a second chance at happiness in a loving home. If a dog is still posted on our website – the dog is still available for adoption. See more information about our adoption process and fees at  http://yolospca.org/adopt/adopting-from-ycspca/ . All our dogs are in foster homes (an advantage to adopters because we know the dogs). We do not have a shelter to visit. Because of coronavirus health advisories, our adoption events on Saturdays at Petco are on hold. But, if you submit an application we will arrange for you to meet dogs you are interested in that would be a good match. Our goal is to make the best match possible for the dog and for the human/s. Having our dogs live in foster homes gives us the opportunity to learn about each dog's personality and behavior. We give you as much information as we have about each dog based on our observations or information we’ve received. We rarely know with certainty the breed or age of our rescue dogs. If you are interested in any of our dogs, please fill out an application at  https://form.jotform.com/52017002013129/ . Use just one application for any/all of our dogs you are interested in, or instead of the name of one dog, put multiple names or “not sure” on the application. Information on your application helps us know your situation so we can work with you to make a great dog-human match. Our dogs are not adopted on a first-come-first served basis. We are trying to make the best match possible. Yolo SPCA dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, heart worm tested, current on vaccinations, and are being treated with heartworm prevention and flea prevention. Adoption fees for dogs more than one year old is $150, and for puppies under one year old is $200.00. If you have questions, please e-mail ( dogs@yolospca.org ), and we will do our best to answer your email within 24 to 48 business hours. Donating to, or shopping at our SPCA Thrift Store supports our rescue efforts ( http://yolospca.org/about-our-thrift-store/ ). Yolo County SPCA is always looking for foster homes, volunteers ( http://yolospca.org/volunteer/ ), and donations ( http://yolospca.org/donate/ ). Thank you.
