A Little Bit About Me

 

Deke is a sensitive guy looking for a very special home. We don't know much about his past, as he was found as a stray is Fresno. But from what we can tell, he hasn't had the easiest first few years of his life. Deke is very fearful and was probably never socialized as a young dog. Honestly, we doubt he's ever been on walks before or around many humans. His new family will need to give him the time and space he needs to become comfortable in his new home. This includes not taking him on walks, not having company over, and generally not forcing Deke to do anything he doesn't want to do--at least for the first few weeks. He's still learning that humans are not scary, so it's important that Deke's humans use positive reinforcement when working with him. Based on how easily Deke startles, we don't think he would do well in a home with young, fast-moving children.
