loving girl looking for a home!

    CLARICE NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!

Come meet Clarice and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (05/11) from 12-3 pm at the PetSmart in Kensington, MD (5154 Nicholson Ln, Kensington, MD 20895)!

Name:  Clarice        Best Guess for Breed:  German Shepherd mix

Best Guess for Age:  1.5 years as of February 2025      Gender:  female

    Approximate Weight: 53lbs

Gets Along With:  Other dogs! We haven't seen Clarice with kids yet. Clarice does like to chase cats but could potentially do okay with a dog-savvy cat. We are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters.

Currently Living At:  DC area foster home.

Check out these videos of Clarice: https://youtube.com/shorts/kXo_DOuzb8o and https://youtube.com/shorts/CNKnxb5gMQQ.

Clarice is Looking For: Her forever home! Through no fault of her own, this sweetie ended up in the shelter. She's eagerly looking forward to having her own humans for long sniffy walks and romps in the park and all the adventures they can dream up. What do you say? Is she the one for your home and your heart?

What My Foster Says About Me: Clarice is an incredibly playful girl! She LOVES other dogs - enjoys running with them in the yard or at the dog park.  She has made a ton of new besties at the dog park! Clarice loves to go outside and go for walks - she will happily wait by the door until it's time to go - she is working on her leash manners but making great progress.

She settles well in her crate, too, and is ready to play as soon as she wakes up!

Like many German Shepherds, she is interested in birds, squirrels, and other small animals. While her body language is loose and happy with cats, she definitely does want to chase them.

She's also very food motivated which is great for training! Also loves a peanut butter kong and enjoys amputating all of her stuffed toys limbs and ears. She will do well in a household where she can get lots of mental stimulation as well as exercise, where she can be active and challenged!

Heartworm Information: Clarice was heartworm positive, but this Lucky Dog got extra lucky! This pup is part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs.  All dogs in the study are placed at random in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, the pups are eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care.  After treatment concludes, we work with adopters to arrange a free follow up heartworm test after 6 months, followed by a second test at 9 months.

Clarice has completed the treatment and activity restriction period. She is awaiting her 6-month follow up test.

Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.

TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.  If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog

Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. That said, we cannot make any guarantees about age, breed or temperament.
