    KING NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!

Come meet King and other great adoptable dogs this Saturday (05/11) from 12-2 pm at the Big Bad Woof in Washington, DC (6960 Maple St NW, Washington, DC 20012)!

Name: King       Best Guess for Breed:    Shepherd mix

Best Guess for Age:  1.5 years as of February 2025     Gender: Male

    Approximate Weight:  56 lbs

Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen him with kids or cats but he can be tested if you have them.

Currently Living At: DC area boarding partner

King is Looking For: His forever home! Through no fault of his own, this sweetie landed in the shelter. He's eager to once again have his own humans for long sniffy walks, romps in parks, and all the adventures they can dream up - gotta burn off all that awesome young-dog energy! He'd love to make pup and people pals along the way. Quality kibble, cushy dog bed, chew dog toys - yes, please, to all those.

But above all he wants to be safe and loved, to know where he belongs - and upon whom to bestow all those happy tail wags, to whom to pledge loyal companionship. Is that going to be you? Is he the one you see by your side?

What My Foster Says About Me: We will update this once he has arrived in the DC area and spent some time with his foster

Medical: King is heartworm positive, but this Lucky Dog got extra lucky! This pup is part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs.  All dogs in the study are placed at random in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, the pups are eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care.  After treatment concludes, we work with adopters to arrange a free follow up heartworm test after 6 months, followed by a second test at 9 months.

King has completed the treatment and exercise restriction phase, and is now awaiting his six month follow-up test.

Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.

TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.  If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog

Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. That said, we cannot make any guarantees about age, breed or temperament.
