SANDY NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!
Name: Sandy Best Guess for Breed: Lab/Yellow Lab
Best Guess for Age: 4 1/2 years as of February 2025 Gender: Female
Approximate Weight: 56 lbs
Gets Along With: Sandy does well with other dogs! We haven't seen her with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!
Currently Living At: DC area foster home
Sandy is Looking For: I'm well out of the puppy yips, so I know what's most important in life: Giving and getting love, and knowing where I belong! What I want most of all is to have my own family, to be under my own roof. My wish list also includes nice sniffy walks, naps, sunbathing in the yard, lots and lots of snuggles, and making new pup and people pals. I promise lots of adoring gazes and tail wags and loyal companionship for all my days in return!
What My Foster Says About Me: Sandy has spent time in two foster homes.
From her first foster:
She is a big sweetheart and is generally very chill and sleeps most of the day. Loves cuddles, being petted, and napping in whatever room you’re in. She is good at leash-walking and although she's past her puppy energy state, appreciates a regular exercise routine. She has done very well with house training, no accidents so far. She’s also been fantastic with other dogs, people, and children that she encounters.
From her second foster:
I agree with everything her first foster said! She is just such a fantastic dog.
Sandy is an all-around great dog for anyone seeking an easy, loving, mellow pup. Her family and she will be very lucky to have each other.
Heartworm Information: Sandy was heartworm positive, but this Lucky Dog got extra lucky! This pup is part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs. All dogs in the study are placed at random in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, the pups are eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care. After treatment concludes, we work with adopters to arrange a free follow up heartworm test after 6 months, followed by a second test at 9 months.
Sandy has completed the treatment and exercise restriction phase, and is awaiting her six month follow-up.
Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training.
TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment. If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog
