AGNES NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!!
Come meet Agnes and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (05/18) from 12-3 pm at the PetSmart in Falls Church, VA (6100 - A Arlington Blvd, Falls Church, VA 22044)!
Name: Agnes Best Guess for Breed: Lab mix
Best Guess for Age: 4 years as of March 2025 Gender: Female
Approximate Weight: 34 lbs
Gets Along With: Agnes gets along well with other dogs and needs to go to a home with a welcoming resident dog because she is shy. We haven't seen her with kids or cats but are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters.
Currently Living At: DC area boarding
Agnes is Looking For: Her forever home! Agnes hasn't seen nearly enough of the world yet and would love to trot through it with all the confidence of a well-loved dog. Right now, she's a little shy, so she needs extra patient and loving humans who will introduce her to new environments and experiences at her pace, and a welcoming resident dog who will show her how to dog. Training will help her build her braves as well.
Most of all, she wants to be safe and loved and under her own roof. She has so many adoring gazes, so many tail wags, and loyal companionship to offer in return. What do you say? Is Agnes the one for your home and your heart?
What My Foster Says About Me: She is very smart and picks up on things quickly ie. getting in and out of the car, using stairs, going potty outside. She does very well in a crate and seems to understand that is her safe space when she wants to rest and relax. She will walk right in a crate if left open and only needs a little encouragement to go in when prompted. She seems to really get attached to one person at a time and if she trusts that person she is happy and will listen to directions and follow them around like a shadow.
Heartworm information: Agnes was heartworm positive, but this Lucky Dog got extra lucky! This pup is part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs. All dogs in the study are placed at random in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, the pups are eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care. After treatment concludes, we work with adopters to arrange a free follow up heartworm test after 6 months, followed by a second test at 9 months.
Agnes has completed the treatment and activity restriction phase and is now awaiting her six-month follow up test.
Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training.
TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment. If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog
