Happy for this second chance at life, 1-year-old Herbert has been settling into the safety and security of his foster home. The 38-pound brown beauty with the large, loving heart, is especially sweet towards his fosters, snuggling and cuddling with them, resting his head on them, showing his paw for affection and turning over for tummy rubs. Still learning to respect the boundaries of his various-sized doggy foster friends, Herbert, who simply ignores the resident cats, is happiest going for walks, walking well on his leash, playing with toys and chewing bones. Fond of treats and peanut butter-filled Kongs, motivated by food, toys and love, he currently knows “come” and “sit,” sleeps soundly in his crate at night and is diligently at work on his house-training. Now all Herbert needs are loving adopters who will patiently teach him about doggy boundaries, continue his socialization and complete his training, including his commands, in exchange for his own enduring loyalty and love.

If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a meet and greet is scheduled. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to complete the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives!  A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you.

The adoption fee for this pet is $375. Our adoption fee covers the following:

Spay/neuter

Microchip

DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog.

Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog.

Adopters shall be responsible for all vaccinations after adoption.

Please fill out an adoption application by clicking  here . Please give us 48 hours to review your application and respond to you. (Remember to check your spam folder for our emails!) We want our pets to go to a lifelong new home, so thank you for your patience during the adoption process!

Please email dogs@arrcolorado.org for more information, as we can't accept calls.

PLEASE NOTE:  The breed listed is the information we've received from the shelter.  Shelters usually guess at the breed, so there is no guarantee, as we don't DNA test our foster pets.  Here is some interesting info on breed identification:  https://arrcolorado.org/category/puppy-dog-tips/

Our adoption process is:

1. Fill out our Adoption Application online.  We'll contact you within 48 hours to answer any questions you may have about the pet.

2. If the pet looks like a great match, we'll schedule a meet and greet and ask you to fill out our online Adoption Agreement if you'd like to proceed with adopting.  Once you've completed the Adoption Agreement and pay the pet's Adoption Fee, you can arrange to pick up your new furry family member!
