Meet Loki – Your Loyal, Low-Key Sidekick 

Hi, I’m Loki! I may share a name with a certain Marvel trickster, but I’m more of a laid-back, snuggly type than a mischief-maker. Think “Low-Key Loki.” I’m a Boxer mix who was rescued from the PG County Shelter on 4/30/25 after being found as a stray. I was a bit shy at first, but now that I’m living with my amazing foster dad, my personality is really starting to shine!

I’m a total companion dog. Whether you’re working from home (I make an excellent Supervisor) or binge-watching your favorite shows, I’ll be right by your side. I love cuddles, might sneak into your personal space, and I’m known for giving plenty of kisses. I also enjoy car rides—just know I might lean in with some backseat driving advice. And yes, I believe firmly in collecting the Cheese Tax in the kitchen.

I’ve been great in my foster apartment—super chill, happy to nap, gnaw on a bone, or chew a bully stick. Outside, I’m still adjusting to the big wide world, but I walk calmly on leash and like to stay close to my human. I’m polite when meeting other dogs (a few sniffs and a tail wag are my go-to moves) and I loved spending time with my foster dad’s 10-year-old niece. I haven’t met very young kids or cats yet, but I don’t have much of a prey drive, so felines might be fine!

I’m housebroken, crate trained, and very food motivated (Milk Bones are my favorite!). I’m still learning basic manners and training, but I’m a quick study when treats are involved.

Once underweight and uncertain, Loki has started to gain both healthy weight and much-needed confidence—and with that, he’s showing more tail wags, curiosity, and enthusiasm every day. Loki may be timid now, but with time, love, and stability, he has the potential to blossom into a loyal and loving companion. He still needs a patient and understanding person to help him continue coming out of his shell. A gentle approach, a calm home, and a big heart are just what Loki needs to thrive.

He has participated in the shelter’s “gentle and dainty “ playgroup and has done well with other dogs!
