Precious is 3 1/2 years old and available for adoption through Colorado Canine Rescue (CCR), a nonprofit dog rescue located in the Denver area. Precious came to CCR from a shelter in New Mexico covered in hordes of Ticks! There is very little history on her but she certainly had a rough start in life.  CCR believes she is a Lab Retriever mix breed but that is just a guess made by shelter staff, rescue volunteers, and our veterinarians.

Precious is a loving and loyal family member who loves scratches behind the ears, hugs and play time with her best dog or human friend.  Her favorite toys are large Nylabone chew rings, chew ropes and anything that squeaks.  Precious is very bright and learns commands well, she will come, sit, stay, lay down and shake (paw) for you.  House/crate trained and walks great on leash!  She truly enjoys walks/hikes and being active outdoors!  Precious will do great in a home with a 6 foot fenced yard and at least one leashed walk a day of 30 minutes.  She may do well in a decent sized condo with at least 2 walks daily if no yard.  She is crate trained with a large crate but can roam the house all day if you leave toys out for her.

Kong Wobblers are lunch fun some days, it keeps her bright mind stimulated.  Precious is a great protector of those she loves!  She does great with other dogs as long as they are low energy and not aggressive in your face and will thrive if you continue socialization with People and other Dogs such as at Camp Bow Wow, etc., Precious is not for dog parks but does great with Dogs she is allowed to get to know.  She adores the kids she has interacted with of various ages but she may knock a toddler over by accident when playing.   Although she has played nice with 20 to 30 pound dogs we suggest no dogs under 30 pounds because tiny dogs she may see as a squirrel (Yorkies, etc.,).  Precious has had one dog fight in the past while protecting her best dog friend but with a firm handler she does great.   She will do best in a home with structured days, play time as the only dog or with a medium size low energy dog playmate after a proper introduction.  She is very food motivated so all dog food needs to be put up off the floor, even bags.

If you are interested in adopting Precious please submit an adoption application located on our website, www.coloradocaninerescue.org. We are asking for a $200.00 adoption donation for Precious.  Please note, CCR cannot guarantee the breed composition or ages of our dogs as we usually have no history prior to them entering the shelter.   **If you want to see Precious’s behavior observation forms please let us know in your application and we will be happy to email them to you.
