Hi, my name is CRICKET, but I’m not an insect – I’m a 15-lb Terrier-mix.  To be more specific, I’m Jack Russell, Parsons, and Rat Terrier.  How can I be so sure?  Well, Colorado Canine Rescue (a non-profit) brought me to the Denver area from a shelter in Houston TX.  Since little was known about me, they gave me a DNA test – so that’s how I know.  It seems that I hadn’t gotten much love or care; I was in pretty bad shape.  My skin was awful and I had lost most of my hair – probably due to a chronic flea allergy.  My skin has healed but not all of my hair has grown back, and it may never.  But I feel like a new dog!  As long as I get my monthly allergy shot, stay on my special diet, and get a bath once or twice a week, I don’t scratch or chew like I used to.  When I came to Foster Mom’s, I wasn’t comfortable being held or petted, but I’m liking it more all the time.  In fact, even though I get along just fine with other dogs, I wouldn’t mind being an only dog because then I would get to do things with just my person.  Though I may be a senior (I’m guessed to be 11), I have no trouble hopping into the car to go for rides and I trot right along on walks – I love doing both of those!  As for cats, I’ve barked at them a little at Foster Mom’s, but that was just to show them who is boss.  I don’t know that a yard is really necessary as long as I get lots of walks, but it might be nice to have one because I enjoy being outside.  I even have some really cool cover-ups to protect me from too much sun – and I like being dressed up.  I am house-trained, but there might be an accident or two while I am getting used to my forever home.  I am crate-trained, too, but Foster Mom leaves the door open so I can choose to sleep in my dog bed or curl next to her on her bed.  Loud noises and voices make me anxious, so a family with young kids likely wouldn’t be good – but someone calm and loving who wants a quiet companion would be just right for me!  Do you think you might be that calm, loving person?  Please go on-line right now to fill out an adoption application at www.coloradocaninerescue.org so we can meet.  CCR is asking a $100.00 adoption donation for me, which is such a deal because I am spayed, vaccinated, heart worm negative, microchipped, and I recently had a dental!  Remember, although the Rescue knows my breed composition from the DNA test, they can’t guarantee my age – but you won’t care about that once you meet me!
