Who could resist a little helper and best buddy like Alto? Yes, that's what you'll get when you bring this gentle, handsome 2-year-old home. (To see just how handsome, take a peek at his online album at http://imageevent.com/newrattitude/alto .) A Rat Terrier mix--with a touch of Basenji, perhaps?--who weighs 16 lbs., Alto may be a bit shy when he first meets you or other dogs, but allow him a little time to feel comfortable. Soon he'll be giving both humans and dogs copious kisses! In his foster home, he gets along with the children ages 12, 11, and 6, though it took him a while to warm up to the youngest, possibly because he's not a big fan of noise. Alto prefers a quieter means of self-expression and rarely, if ever, barks. He can even get a little nervous around his more vociferous fur siblings. Alto will make his needs known with a whine, whether he's asking you to give him some attention or to let him go out to potty. (He is fully house-trained.) Basically he's a love bug who likes sitting in your lap, giving kisses, and playing gently. In other words, he's just about perfect! He walks nicely on a leash, but even when he's in his fenced yard, he'll be keeping close to you, as though he wishes he could be helping you with whatever task is at hand. And when he goes out to do his business, he hopes you'll return the favor by accompanying him outside. That's just how much he wants to be your friend. Alto's foster family says that more than anything they hope you will introduce this adorable boy to new experiences, help him enjoy the outdoors, offer him training (that helps all dogs grow in confidence), and then spend lots of cuddle time with him. Doesn't that sound like a pretty fair deal for such a faithful best friend?
