Blue-eyed Baxter, so lush and so loving, could spend all day, every day, being petted and cuddled. In fact, he could easily exist on a steady diet of attention – and yes, even grooming -- while his happiest hobby is sleeping! Still somewhat shy when approached too quickly, he’s greatly improved in the reassuring safety of his foster home. Friendly and frisky, he enjoys meeting other dogs, both during his walks and on trips to the dog park (although leash trained, he’ll pull and howl excitedly in his eagerness to greet them), and loves running around the backyard, chasing the sole squirrel in one of the pine trees. Baxter may have only three legs, but, true to his breed, is an eager escape artist, seldom responding to his name or to any commands, and should always be supervised and only brought to fenced dog parks. Slightly picky about his food and treats, he LOVES cheese, and with that as an incentive, coupled with his foster mom’s encouragement, he’s been learning to navigate the flight of 14 steps in their home. He manages stairs ok, but sometimes needs a little encouragement it they are too steep. The less stairs for him the better.  Both crate and housetrained, with free reign of the place when alone, big-hearted Baxter now craves a loving home of his own.  He will sit patiently by the door to let you know he needs to go out. He loves running and hiking despite his three legs gets along great.

Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes that every pet should find a wonderful, caring home. To ensure each pet finds the best possible home, we ask that you fill out an adoption application form so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application we receive and will contact you as quickly as possible. A home visit will be scheduled before any pet is adopted to a new home. Once a home visit has taken place and the adoption application has been approved, we will ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement form. Our adoption fees help cover the cost of spay/neuter, veterinary exams, vaccinations, microchipping, and foster care, enabling us to save more lives!

Adoption fee is $300 and covers microchip, DAPP, Rabies, Heart Worm test and spay/neuter.

If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an adoption application here .   We want our pets to go to a lifelong new home, so thank you for your patience during the adoption process!

Please email ARRColorado@gmail.com for more information, as we can not accept calls at this time.
