Skeeter came to his foster home about 15 months ago from Kansas.  We have very little history on his life prior to the shelter.  We are guessing that he is around two - three years old and is a Chihuahua mix.

Skeeter is extremely shy.  He requires a forever home that will give him time to learn to love them and that will continue to show him how wonderful people can be.  He loves other dogs and will do best in a home with a furry friend to help him learn to trust his new human family.  Skeeter has done well around children, but because of his timidness we would like him to go into a home without children.

Although Skeeter is slow to trust, once he does, he is a sweet snuggler.  Skeeter likes to sleep under the covers in his foster moms bed.   He loves treats, toys, walks, laying in the sun, and playing with his foster sister.  Skeeter is not fully house trained, however, he rarely has accidents in his foster home (he has a dog door, so he is able to go outside anytime).  Keep in mind; he will likely have some accidents in a home from stress of a new environment and learning his new potty routine.  Skeeter does not like to be picked up, but he will snuggle with you, especially if you have a blanket for him to cuddle under.  Skeeter loves his meal times and his treats.  He requires a great deal of exercise in order to work off the extra treats he gets in order to learn and keep trust.  Skeeter enjoys dog beds, especially ones that offer a burrowing option.  Skeeter is truly a sweet and happy boy who was dealt a difficult hand in his early years, with ongoing love and patience; he will continue to gain trust.   Skeeter has traveled in a crate to the vet but has never been left in a crate for an extended period of time.

If you are interested in adopting Skeeter, please submit an adoption application on our website   coloradocaninerescue.org .  We are asking for a $175 adoption fee for Skeeter. Please note, CCR cannot guarantee the breed composition due to a lack of history prior to the dog entering the program.  In addition, most dogs listed as potty trained will experience an adjustment period as they learn the routines in their new home.
