Lovely Lady lived all her life with an older gentleman, who recently had to move to a long-term care facility. Fortunately a generous good Samaritan (her vet!) spared Lady from homelessness by offering to care for her until her new home could be found. Lady is a feisty 11-year-old weighing just 13 lbs. After spending the last couple of years as an indoor-only dog, she LOVES going on walks and rolling in the grass. She has transitioned from only using pee pads for pottying to going outdoors and is now reliably house trained. Lady is in very good health although throughout her life she has occasionally experienced mild seizures, where she is briefly disoriented and unsteady until the seizure passes. These seem to be stress induced and do not require medication. Lady gets along fine with cats and gentle dogs. When out on a walk, she is generally not reactive to people or dogs, but she does not welcome close contact with strangers and would probably snap if they tried to pet her. She has never been around children and would prefer not to be. At home she is crated when visitors come. She is also crated during the workday when no one is at home, but all other times she has full access to the house. She enjoys snoozing on the couch and keeping an eye on the neighborhood from her perch in the window. Lady is not particularly cuddly, not a lap dog, but she does want to be near her person and will follow them around the house. She is not used to being alone and since that is unavoidable in her current situation, she takes fluoxetine to ease her separation anxiety. Lady is looking for a quiet home with one or two adults who don’t often have company. A retired couple or someone who is home most of the time would be perfect. Someone who enjoys going on walks. Someone who understands we get set in our ways as we get older and maybe a wee bit persnickety. Lady just wants someone to call her own.
