Bonnie is what you'd call a love sponge, because you could give her affection all day and she would still just keep soaking it up! And who could blame her? After all, this pretty lady of 17 lbs. spent her three years of life in a puppy mill, where she was bred for her puppies. And adorable offspring they likely were, as Bonnie's physical features (wide head, long body, and short legs) hint that her family tree might contain some French Bulldog and Corgi in addition to Rat Terrier. When she was rescued by New Rattitude, poor Bonnie was in great pain, suffering from bladder stones that required surgery. Now that she is all healed, Bonnie is more than ready to leave her past behind! While Bonnie warms up quickly to women, it may take her a few days to trust a man, and her skittishness may make her bark to say "back off."  Patience, a slow approach, and plenty of treats are the way to her heart. In fact, after day 5 in her foster home, she was curling up in Foster Dad's lap for protection from Fourth of July fireworks. Bonnie does not mind other dogs around (and occasionally cuddles with them a little) and would be fine in a home with other dogs, but she really attaches more to people and would also do great as an only dog. Bonnie is quite well-mannered. She doesn't chew on things or dig in the yard. She is crate trained and sleeps there at night (she seems to like the safety and security of a den area), but she stays out and about in the house with her canine foster siblings during the day when her foster parents are at work. She is also leash trained and will love taking walks with you. In addition, she's house-trained, and she will let you know when she needs to go outside by going to the back door. She generally won't stay out there long; she does her business and comes back in, so she doesn't need a big yard. Basically she is just a cuddle bug, who will delight in piling onto the sofa with you and the rest of the family (be it human or canine) to watch a movie.
