No doubt about it, Henry is one of a kind--19 lbs. of super cuteness, a little quirky, very smart, and a whole lot of fun! At 7 years old, Henry is reliably house-trained and crate trained. He also knows all the basic commands and a bunch of tricks, which he enjoys showing off for a word of praise or a treat. He learns quickly and is eager to please. He wants to be a part of whatever you are doing. Henry has a lot of energy, mental as well as physical, and adequate exercise is a must in both cases. He loves going for a walk or a run or on trips to the dog park. Henry gets along well with other dogs. His friendly disposition makes him a fun guy to take out, and he is always ready for an adventure. He also really enjoys his toys, especially tennis balls and squeaky toys. Henry is a big fan of routine. Firmly set boundaries and a consistent schedule help him to avoid becoming over-stimulated and anxious which makes him irritable and snappish. He does take a medication to smooth things out, but he will need an adult-only home with an adopter who is willing to learn to recognize and avoid situations that make Henry uncomfortable. A little understanding goes a long way but it is so worth it to earn the trust of the otherwise happy, affectionate, and extraordinary Henry.
