Lively Dik-dik greets each new day with great enthusiasm. Life is all about playing, exploring, learning, eating, and napping. Oh, let's not forget following his foster parents around the house to make sure that they aren’t up to anything fun that he might miss! Dik-dik is an adorable 1-year-old Rat Terrier (or possible Rattie mix), who currently weighs 13 lbs. He still needs to fill out a bit and is going to look even handsomer at his ideal weight of about 14 lbs. Dik-dik is still a little wary of new people and sudden hand movements. He seems to have been grabbed a lot in his past, so he tends to be suspicious and avoid what he thinks might be an attempt to “get” him. When he becomes trusting, however, he is relaxed and cuddly, seeking out affection, carrying his toys all over the house, and wanting to spend his time near his foster parents, wherever that might be. His house-training has been excellent over the past several weeks in foster care, and he does know how to use a dog door. He really enjoys the company of other dogs and would be so happy to be adopted into a home with another dog or two that he can romp, play, and sleep with. In his excitement on first meeting a new dog, he might be barky and even come across as somewhat assertive, but he truly loves canine companionship and is always friendly and engaging. Dik-dik is normally pretty quiet in the house and does not react to the doorbell, knocking, or strange sounds around the house or yard. He crates beautifully at night and for car rides.
