This handsome fellow is Desmond, and he is even sweeter than he is gorgeous. Desmond is a larger Rat Terrier, possibly of the Decker variety. He weighs nearly 35 pounds at just 1.5 years, and is still building muscle. Despite his young age and size, Desmond is very mild mannered and even tempered. Desmond enjoys meeting new people and politely greets new friends with kisses before rolling over and offering his tummy for scratches. He is quick to trust and bond, he craves attention and affection, and he is always eager to please. Desmond is good at matching the energy level of those around him; he will rise (or nap) appropriately to whatever the occasion suggests. Ever composed, young Desmond is just as happy to snuggle with his people as he is to go for a hike or play with a squeaky toy. Desmond is okay with most other dogs once he gets to know them, and he would benefit from additional dog exposure to expand his socialization. Though he does enjoy canine companionship, Desmond is an attention hog and might prefer to be the only dog in his forever home. Desmond is crate trained and house trained, and his on-leash manners are improving with practice. Desmond rides quietly in the car, but since he does tend to get carsick on long rides, he hopes his forever family is within 75 miles of his foster home.
