Our sweet Ellie is ready for adoption! If you have ever wanted to make a difference in a dog's life, adopting Ellie is a beautiful start <3

Here is her story...

Ellie had wandered up to a doorstep on Westlawn Drive in late July.  A Texarkana Animal League volunteer was contacted to participate in the rescue of this sad little dog. Our volunteer was more than willing to get this sweet girl, especially after seeing her condition.  The first thing you noticed about Ellie was that she was missing most of the hair on her body.  Ellie was brought to the vet to address her health concerns.

After being seen at the vet Ellie was brought back to TAL. Ellie was given a comfortable bed for this scared, tired girl.  We made sure she had food, water and time to rest. TLC was just what Ellie needed.

Ellie surprised everyone at TAL by her quick recovery and how quickly her hair grew back!  Ellie received treatment for heartworms and her eye.  Now, Ellie is a healthy Shih Tzu who is ready for her forever home.  Ellie still has some skin issues but it is being treated by meds.  She can see fine and her heart is doing good! This dog is the boss around these parts!  And we love her for it!

All of our adoptable animals are up to date on routine vaccinations, microchipped and spayed or neutered.  If the animal is too young a certificate for the spay/neuter is included in the adoption fee.  Please CLICK HERE to complete our online adoption application.

Many of our animals can be seen at our adoption center located at 5820 Richmond Rd, Texarkana, TX on Saturdays between 10 am - 3 pm.  We also have cats available in the Cat Adoption Center inside PetSmart - Texarkana.  To make arrangements to meet any of our animals, please call us at 1-877-525-4825, option 2.
