SWEET PEA was adopted from us as a kitten, along with her much shyer sister SOPHIE. Sadly, once in a while we do get cats returned, though it's usually no fault of theirs, just life circumstances for the adopter. These girls were much loved, and their adopter even helped us rescue the litter of cold and hungry kittens from the RIVERTON colony in Front Royal, which is where they came from. It was upsetting for their owner to return them to us, but we will hope to find them bot h a new home. They do not need to be together, and SWEETPEA is the very friendly, confident and outgoing sister. She loves to play and has that torti attitude, but in a nice way  :)  We expect she'd take a dog in her stride and is fine with other cats, so long as they know she's the boss. She is about 3 years old and she would also make a good apartment cat, as she's used to living inside only and happy in seems perfectly happy in a smaller space. 

We do not have a fixed adoption fee at For The Cats' Sake, but instead ask for a tax-deductible donation. On average, we spend about $125 to prepare a cat or kitten for adoption, which includes testing for FeLV and FIV, vaccinations, flea treatment, deworming, vet care, medicine and spay/neuter (if old enough). We set a minimum donation at $50 and just ask adopters to cover as much of the $125 as they can afford. Our goal is to find the best home for each animal, and we feel this policy makes it possible for more people to adopt one or more of our cats. It is also important to us that every adopter can afford to care for their pets properly and intend to give them a home for life.
