SOPHIE is an affectionate but very scared kitty right now, and who can blame her as she recently lost her home and is coping with a strange new place and more other cats than she is used to. SOPHIE was adopted from us as a kitten with her sister SWEET PEA, but sadly after several years her adopter hit difficult circumstances which forced her to return both cats to us. We know that Sophie was very loving and is still very loving when fussed, but she scared and still hiding. What she really needs is a quiet home with a patient and loving adopter who is able to spend some time with her and make her feel secure again. In the meantime we are working to show Sophie she has nothing to fear. We remember rescuing her and her siblings from a plastic shelter where they were huddled together and afraid, so it is sad to see her afraid again, but we will give her all the love we can and know there is a special adopter out there to give her a real forever home.

We do not have a fixed adoption fee at For The Cats' Sake, but instead ask for a tax-deductible donation. On average, we spend about $125 to prepare a cat or kitten for adoption, which includes testing for FeLV and FIV, vaccinations, flea treatment, deworming, vet care, medicine and spay/neuter (if old enough). We set a minimum donation at $50 and just ask adopters to cover as much of the $125 as they can afford. Our goal is to find the best home for each animal, and we feel this policy makes it possible for more people to adopt one or more of our cats.
It is also important to us that every adopter can afford to care for their pets properly and intend to give them a home for life.
