Look at that sweet face! It belongs to Hermione, and it has a story to tell--one of triumph over dismal circumstances. Before coming into rescue, this tiny Rat Terrier of a mere 8 1/2 lbs. had spent most of her 10 years living in a crate inside a garage, giving birth to litter after litter of puppies. As soon as she arrived in her foster home, Hermione slowly but surely began to flourish! She's become much more comfortable in open spaces, has learned to walk on a leash, and uses the dog door with the greatest of ease. She rides beautifully in the car and is house-trained. Hermione also gets along with her canine foster brothers and sleeps soundly through the night. She still remains very uncomfortable in new situations, and it's important that she is given the choice to retreat to her crate when she is uncomfortable. Because she is not comfortable being touched or handled by new people (even just to have a leash put on), Hermione requires a home with a fenced yard. This sweet girl has lots of love to give, and she is looking for a family to cherish her and help her write her life story's next chapter--the one that ends "happily ever after."
