With an expression impossible to resist, big-hearted Blackie is a beguiling blend of friendliness and feistiness, affection and action. At 76 pounds he’s the largest and most loving of couch potatoes who likes to kiss and be kissed on the nose, hugged and held, who adores everyone he meets and asks for all the attention he can get. Excellent in the car, content when walking brief distances, one of his favorite pastimes is throwing himself on the lawn and wriggling around on his back. New to obedience commands, the meaning of boundaries, and easily bored, he’s at work with his foster mom on learning "sit", "let’s go", "wait" and "kennel up", and on mastering more respectful behavior. Curious when seeing other dogs while he’s on a leash, he’s far more assertive off leash, and because of his strength and his tendency to pull, he’s also at work on improving his leash and doggy manners. With much still to learn, with treats as a motivator and his eagerness to please, what he needs now is a strong, loving and experienced adopter with the patience to continue his training and complete his education in a cat-free home where bright and boisterous Blackie can truly bloom.
