Say hello to Harry, a sweet 9-lb. 13-year-old Rattie, full of wonder for the new things he's experiencing since his rescue from a puppy mill. Having spent most, if not all, of his life in a small cage, Harry is learning about things like soft green grass and the loving touch of a human hand--and he loves it! Although much is new and a bit surprising, Harry has quickly decided that snuggling and love are two things he can't have enough of. He might hesitate a little when hands reach to pick him up, but when he knows he is going to his comfy place on the sofa or a lap, he's so happy that he shuffles and snorts and then cuddles right up for a snooze. Child and adult alike, everyone who meets Harry falls in love with him. No one is a stranger when they approach him gently, and he'll curl right up with anyone who will scratch his neck or belly. He LOVES to snuggle on the sofa for long snoozes or ride "shotgun" with his foster dad in the office or lie at his feet in the doggy bed. Harry is also delighted just to follow you around, especially if you're thinking about stopping by the kitchen. Poor dental care from his years in the puppy mill resulted in the loss of his lower jaw, but this doesn't stop Harry from gobbling up his meals or taking treats. If things get too loud, he might retreat to his crate, but he'll soon come out again, too curious to resist peeking in and making certain where everyone is. At night, he'd love to sleep in the bed with you or in a comfortable open-door crate. Harry shows no interest in the outdoor cat in his foster home and gets along beautifully with all of the dogs, two of whom he tries to buddy up with whenever they've placed themselves nearby. Because Harry had never learned where it's proper to go potty and because grass remains a bit of an enigma, he's been trained on puppy pads, which he's been quite good at using. Soon he will transition to using the yard. Since he is still unsure about that thing called a leash, a fenced yard would be best for him. Although he's a bit bemused by the newness of it all, this wonderful little guy is coming along day by day, and he's ever so ready for a forever family to guide him and help him discover what a dog's life is really meant to be.
