Sweet and lovable are two words that describe Rattie mix Jake so very well. And once he has adjusted to his new family, you can add loyal to the list of attributes of this 18-lb. 2-year-old. Jake enjoys his people and gets along with all the dogs in his foster home, but please no cats! He loves playing with his toys or the other dogs, as well as going outdoors to patrol the yard to alert you to whatever he feels warrants attention. But when he's outdoor, there's another word that describes Jake, and that's Houdini-like. This boy can slip out of a leash, collar, or harness with ease, and then he'll run. And if he's transfixed on something, he'll ignore you and won't respond to recall commands till he's ready. The solution is simple, however; Jake has to have a securely fenced yard. Ideally he would also enroll in obedience class to help with recall and to learn to stay happily leashed, collared, and harnessed.  Inside, he's a well-manned fellow, who is crate trained but can be trusted to have the run of the house when you're not home. He's reliably house-trained. At night, he's happy to sleep in the bed with his humans or in his crate with the door open. Jake would thrive with an active family who enjoys the outdoors, but make sure you do some obedience training with him and keep the gate closed! Good boy, Jake!
