WHIPPY is an 8-year-old beagle/shepherd mix girl who is looking for a new forever home where she will get loving care and be put on a diet and exercise program to deal with her morbid obesity. Unfortunately, WHIPPY lived with an elderly couple who shared all of their people food with her. She weighed in at 88 pounds when she first came into the shelter, more than twice what she should normally weigh. We put her on low-cal dog food and began to take her on 2 walks a day. She has responded well! She has lost 16 pounds in less than 2 months and now likes to jog on her daily walks!  We will only adopt her out to a home that will commit to a wellness plan for her as this much weight will shorten her life and hurt her bones and organs.

She is a very sweet senior who loves people and gets along with some dogs. She seems to prefer male dogs over females. She would love to have a new family to call her own! She is spayed, current on all shots, microchipped and walks well on a leash. She is also house trained.
