Shasta is available for adoption through Colorado Canine Rescue, a nonprofit rescue in the Denver area. He came from a crowded shelter in Texas where she was turned in as a stray. Since we have little history on him, we are estimating his age to be around five years old and guessing his breeds to be a Husky/Samoyed mix.

Shasta is a sweet, loving boy with beautiful blue eyes.  He has had a rough life. He was picked up as a stray in Texas where he was likely hit by a car. His injuries were untreated and his pelvis healed on its own, so he struggles a bit on stairs. He is currently in a foster home where he is finally able to give and receive lost of love and attention. He is incredibly sweet with all humans.  

While he is usually dog-friendly, he doesn't love all dogs and takes longer to warm up to some dog personalities.  Given that, he will need to go to a family as the only dog.  Due to his old injury, he has some minor urinary incontinence when he sleeps which has greatly improved with medicine.  He is house-trained, and loves sleeping on hard-wood floors which makes his occasional incontinence easier to clean up!  When Shasta came to CCR, he tested positive for heartworm.  He's since completed the heartworm treatment and needs to be retested in October.  If positive, CCR can cover cost of next treatment (antibiotics most likely) through our approved vets.  He also had surgery to correct entropion and is healed from that.  This sweet fellow is gentle, smart, and knows basic commands (sit, down, wait, etc).  He has had a rough start to life and just wants someone to love him and smother him with cuddles.

CCR cannot hold dogs, arrange meet and greets or adopt out any dogs without a completed adoption application.
CCR cannot guarantee the breed composition or ages of our dogs as we usually have no history prior to them entering the shelter. 
Dogs listed as potty trained may experience an adjustment period as they learn the routines in their new home.
