Hi! My name is Cusco! (Like the Inka capital of Peru). If you are reading this you are looking to add a snuggly ball of purr to your life. And I could be just that kitten. My sister Lima (like the capital of Peru) and me were trapped in Greeley (5/26) with our mom when we were about 10 days old. I’ve always been the little sister – back then I was 5 ounces and she was 6 ounces. Our mom was with us in our foster home until we were 8 weeks old and then she went back to live in Greeley after she was spayed and vaccinated. I was more attached to our mom - I especially liked nursing, so after our mom went home I switched to nursing on my sister. I do it less now than when I was littler; now we spend our time grooming each other. Since it was just the two of us in the litter we are pretty much peas in a pod. We even like to use the litter box together! If my sister doesn’t finish burying her business, I help her out! But she’s learned my burying skills pretty well.

We were a touch slow to develop. We didn’t hit 2 pounds (the weight you need to be to be spayed) until we were 12 weeks old. Our mom wasn’t an especially large cat. We have grown a lot in the last month and we were spayed 9/13. My sister also had to shake a sinus infection first. On the plus side, since we got a little older we finished all of our vaccines, even our rabies.

We have been living with our foster parents, 3 dogs (17, 47, and 62 pounds), and their cats who are between the ages of 2 and 9 years old. We wrestle with the little dog and snuggle her (you can see the two of us snuggling with her while our foster mom worked on homework next to us), we climb on the big old dog, and we get bossy barked at when we bother the middle dog. We have become adept at navigating cats who love us and want to play and groom us, cats who don’t want to be bothered, and those who will bop us on the head. Nothing really phases us! We never hiss, we just roll with the punches.

We love climbing and scratching the cat tree and coming up with silly games. I like to purr and roll on my foster parents and I like to put my mouth on theirs to get kisses and see what they ate. I like to help my foster mom do her homework (you can see me passed on her lap next to the laptop – note my long ear tufts). I like it when my foster dad’s whiskers get a little scruffy and I rub my head against his cheeks. I like to sleep in the cat condo basket when I am not sleeping on my foster parents’ heads. And I love “killing” fluffy cat toys and growling and if you play with a fishing cat toy or rope I’ll death grip it with my teeth and you can lift me off the ground. (Behold my fierceness in my picture! I won’t even let Elliot the big cat play with it and my sister politely lets me bogart the toy). I’m hoping to show you some of my fierce toy moves and serious snuggle hugs soon!

I am being fostered in Fort Collins.

Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes that every pet should find a wonderful, caring home. To ensure each pet finds the best possible home, we ask that you fill out an adoption application form so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application we receive and will contact you as quickly as possible. A home visit will be scheduled before any pet is adopted to a new home. Once a home visit has taken place and the adoption application has been approved, we will ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement form. Our adoption fees help cover the cost of spay/neuter, veterinary exams, vaccinations, microchipping, and foster care. Highly requested breeds help cover the vet costs incurred by some of our other cats, enabling us to save more lives!

    • $250 for purebred/highly requested kittens (6 months & under)
    • $150 for purebred/highly requested cats (older than 6 months)
    • $150 for kittens (6 months & under)
    • $75 for cats (older than 6 months)
