Chip is an energetic pup who is looking for a home with other playful, confident dogs and humans who can help him feel secure and learn to manage his excited jumping and nipping. 

 

He loves training sessions, playground parkour, hunting grasshoppers and herding the waves created by boat wakes. And he absolutely lives for doggie play dates. He’s generally very good on leash but can be reactive when he’s over-excited. He’s perfect off leash in low-distraction environments and is working on his (still decent) recall when bunnies or other dogs are around. 

 

Chip has been friendly with people and dogs when out and about but sometimes guards high value spaces and treats. He has shown some signs of separation anxiety that seem to be mitigated when he has a confident canine companion to reassure him. 

 

He has been sweet meeting kids on walks, but due to his energy levels and tendency to nip/jump when excited, would do best in an adult-only home or with older kids who are cattle dog savvy. We don’t know how he is with cats, but he has a pretty high chase/prey drive. Chip needs a six-foot fence or to be always supervised in the yard. 

 

Chip was adopted very recently and his family feel their erratic schedules and lack of other dogs increase Chip’s anxiety and behavioral challenges. They want to help him find an environment where he can thrive and mature into the cool dog that is so clearly at his core.
